These people have verygood prices on plywood. I ordered a few 12"x48" sheets of various thickneses. Free shipping if you order over $150.00 worth. It will be shipped in cardboad box resembling a firearm box. Wood quality is verygood

Since I purchased another Whiplash 20 kit back when they were on sale. I may build a new larger version that will qualify for larger Q Sport Hydro class (34"-40"). Hull will be lengthened in center section and transom. Sponsons will have to be larger also. I also remembered the 60 percent afterplane rule.

But it stays dry inside with the seal I made, No tape.

Today I ran the boat using the M447. Boat jumped up on plane instantly, but water was too wind choppy rough to let her rip. Boat looked pretty good from what I could see. Here is my first Hydra Ice data log. The second Green group 350 amp spike is where I nailed the throttle from stand still. Next time I will be a little easier on throttle by tossing the hull as in first Green amp group. (amps peaked about 225 during hard throttle while running).

The Yellow 3M electrical tape does not hold as well as the White. My UL-1 nose cone fell off during run because of it. Had to retrieve it using tennis ball and fishing pole. The tennis ball and fishing pole method works Very well. Better than getting wet.

I actually had a vac-u-pickle cowl that I was fiberglassing over, had it all primed and drying. Left it on the garage floor on cardboard to dry. Bad move, wife drove over it... Won't do that again.

Yes, I've been in touch with Mike. I'll have to see how that one turns out, that may make it 3 things to tape down. I've made it so everything is waterproof, I flipped it and it was upside down for about 5 mins. Brought it in, drained water and back in it went. I've been using the Hitec HS-5646WP servos in just about everything I have and they're working great. That along with the T180 which I sealed around the seams and a FlySky with a squirt of corrosionX.

Here's a couple pics. Lipos slide into side just behind motor, balance is about 1" behind sponsons.

I'm using Turnigy T180 esc and 2-3s nano-tech 5000mah 45c's in series. I've seen that Castle chart before. The motor and esc came out of one of my other boats that was pulling up to 300 amps with the same controller with no issues. I'll post a pic later this afternoon.

I set hull up for P Sport Hydro. Motor is Neu 1527 .5y 2500kv cell count is 4s2p. This longer/heavier hull is more stable in rough water than my smaller Whiplash 20.
I did not use the supplied Virginia Craftsman turnfin bracket. I used the two bolt Speedmaster strut bracket mentioned earlier in this tread. I may elongate top bolt hole for more adjustability if turnfin needs it. Waiting for more calm water conditions so I can really see what this hull can do.

58 is fast. What ESC are you using? 6s1p sounds risky...better use high output cells. Please post pics of your build (Q Sport Hydro)!

Nice looking whip. What motor and cell count are you running, 4s? I just finished building the sport 40 version and with a Castle 1717, t180 and 6s1p turnigy nano's minus cowl (still waiting on one) I'm at 10.5lbs. I added CF everywhere possible and I really thought it was going to be overweight. I took it out today and was able to get 58 with a x645 with amp spikes up to 198. I also have the same Virginia Craftsman fin, love it. Are you planning making the bracket adjustable? I know this was your first run, but did you notice any difference with the changes you've made? Keep the updates coming!
