My Futaba receiver has antenna wire, so i installed antenna. Mount is made from 5/32" brass tubing epoxied to inside of hull (epoxy thickened with micro balloons) . Small diameter silicone fuel line will seal and hold plastic antenna tube in place. Ain't it wonderful what you can learn just by glancing at someone elses build.

Yeah, I had to take a couple looks and then saw the stuffing tube. You know, I have a 1521 1Y as well, may have to give that a try.

Thanks Oscar. I know the picture looks a little confusing (upside down). The radepads are about 1/32" thick with sharp back trailing edge. I will aslo scuff bottom serfaces.

I like the carbon ride pads! I just weighed my 40 and it's at 12.2 with TP 6s 6500. I was going to get you some numbers this evening but storms are in the area. I'll try first thing in the morning.

Almost complete. Footprint is same size as Whiplash 40, but a little lighter in weight (10 lbs).

I will try a few motor combinations just to say "been there done that".

    Q Sport Hydro 6s: 1527 1y (1250kv), 1521 1y (1577kv)

    P Sport Hydro 4s: 1521 1.5d (1860kv), 1518 1.5d (2300kv), 1527 .5y (2500kv)

My next build will be the Whiplash 40

I cut 1" off of the Speedmaster 21 rudder. I also sharpened 21 rudder on one side and opened water pickup slightly.
Speedmaster mini rudder on left Speedmaster 21 on right.

Finally got servo (lightweight Futaba s3004), 21 rudder, 40 strut, stuffing tube (with .187 teflon liner) installed. I went ahead and installed my rudder on the right side. Linkage is short 440 so deflection will not be a problem. Water pickup will be opened for better pickup. Rudder will also be shortened a little.

I changed the color from Black to White. I block sanded allmost down to original primer coat using 400 grit then 600 grit paper. Gloss finish is very smooth without color sanding and polishing.

Summitracing's single stage urethane, Pure White mixed 4 parts paint : 1 part activator : 2 parts medium temp reducer. The extra thinning was required to spray thru smallish 1mm tip (Less volume spayed on and better leveling of paint)

You can see differences in ridepad height and width (modified pads on left, stock on right)

Make sure to put something on the bottom too if you're planning on racing, that's gonna be very hard to see if it flips.

I changed the color from red to black. This poor paint job has lots of fisheyes caused by water contaminents in airline (very frustrating). So I purchased a better airdryer. I will sand down and spot repair. White decals will help make the boat easier to see.

Thanks Lenny. Now I have to decide on what graphics to use. Probably something simple and classic looking in White.

I painted using Sumittracing single stage Red urethane. This Red is a little darker than I like, but what is done is done. Hull is 34" so I can run either P sport hydro or Q sport hydro.

This cheap paint is harder to spray than say a better quality PPG Ditzler Deltron. Extra thinning is required to prevent orange peel. Practice before spraying this crap.

Front half of hull floor is fiberglassed. Next I will cut hole for stuffing tube. I am using an old motor can to line up long 3/16" drill bit.
