Any more details? Like motor size and kv? What is the distance from inside transom to front of motor? I have a Pursuit needing to be built for some time.

Nice and clean Tony! looks like she'll stay on track in the corners too.

Motor looks a lot farther back than in an ARF Pursuit. So, he can put the batts forward. Sounds like you have a bare hull to start with.

Ray : TP 4060 5D 2040KV (OSE Special wind). This motor in P-Mono heat racing trim can spin anything from a 447/2 all the way up to a 450/3 or even a 452/2. I advised my customer to go with the really nice OSE CNC 448/3 and that prop should ROCK on the oval with this build.

Years ago Randy convinced me of the benefits of rear motor placement. I mock up EVERYTHING with the rear hdwr installed & mark the motor position as far rear as practical giving access to the collet with room for the batteries to be slid fore/aft to adjust CG for different race conditions, then bond everything in place. I shipped the boat this morning & can't give a measurement - maybe this picture helps

Shawn, Thanks & good call on the corner tracking! I use the longish SPD 40/60 rudder trimmed down + the El Giganto XXL turn fins . Racing experience teaches that cornering hard & fast in bouncy racewater requires keeping the metal well submerged in the water while navigating the slopchop rounding the buoys - (not that critical for the zoom-zoom rigs)

Sorry Tony but perhaps I can be of help on the rear mounted motor Pursuit issue. Here is mine Ray, I still run it and it runs well http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ild&highlight=

I can get measurements if you like.

Thanks Tony. It's enough info along with Srislash.

Tony, I have a Neu 1521 1.5d. I don't think I gain much by using a TP 4060 like you. Both turn similar props.

Thanks guys. First get the wood boats done then this one, yes its bare.

Like Tony, I like to mount the motor in the rear when practical. For example, the cable on my 10S cat is only about 9" long total length, works great. My Titan 40 cable is about 11". Rear mounting can work very well.

                      Ray,

Here's my take, based not so much on empirical data but "seat of the pants" racing experience :

Several years ago the "go-to" P-Mono motor was the 1515 1Y 2200KV motor. Still very viable in most P-Mono hulls & especially quick in the light & agile Cyberstorm/Pursuit. Then the "bigger must be better" movement took hold & many went to 1521 1.5D 1890KV - like a good sheep I did (see vid) and could swing a bigger wheel, especially a 3-blade which accelerates like mad out of the turns. Tyler& Mark went with the 2300KV 1527 and could rocket past the pack until terminal racewater speed-wobbles did unkind things to their finishing potential. Any of these (1515 1Y, 1521 1.5D, TP Power 4060 5D, 1527 2300KV) will get you into turn one. Anything can (and will) happen after that

Cyberstorm P-Mono Testing with 1521 1.5D before "elephant ears" XXL turn fins installed : (guessing a 447/2)

Now if we can get u to race that thing.. Lol. Hard to go wrong with the 1521 1890kv.. Though I have tested the 1527 2300 kv..which is prob 5mph faster.. But at that speed it's hard to hold on to.. With the 1521. It's a proven race winner

Ray, you know that I entered P-Mono at the last race. No one (besides you ?) did. I was just as disappointed.

Agree on motors. I run in my IB34 the 1521 1.5D. Mark's (almost identical IB34 runs the 1527 2300. Pretty sure Tyler's Cyber did too.) Here I outpulled Mark coming out of the turns (using the whopping 450/3) , even let Mark pass after he got a 1-Lap for smacking the buoy and Tyler's Cyber bellied up in the slop. Pedaled to the win :

                            Forward Thinking Cyberstorm P-Mono

Headed to a magical kingdom where forward thinking racers have opened the door to motors not (yet?) approved for P-Ltd.

Powered by the TP Power 3630 and the very nice OSE 150A Raider ESC :

Nice Tony, what kind of motor would you suggest for an ML Boatworks 310 rigger? I've got lots of time to decide, your input is appreciated. I sorta like the HET 700-68-2250kv but lots of choices.
