Batteries do play a factor but I would think 50c would be fine. There are some variations in the stock props. Some are faster than others. I would play with your strut depth. I measure my strut depth by the amount that the strut sticks up above the top of the strut bracket. The front of mine is about 1.4mm above and the rear is about 1.9mm above. Small changes make a big difference so take it easy when raising it. To high will make the boat very loose and make it easier to have a wreck. The other thing to consider is the water condition. Glass smooth water will not be as fast as when the wind is blowing small waves.

great reply.
thanks
yes, the water was glass.
I just removed the drive shaft to find the stuffing tube has broken loose and slide forward over 1/8 inch. there is a hot spot on flex cable where it enters stuffing tube as well.
this is my second flex drive already and I am seeing signs of where after one set of packs. something needs fixing here I think.

I ran a Octura X452 three blade tonight. 66.2mph on 6S and 48.8 on 4S. I was kind of expecting more from this prop. Maybe it's to much for the motor. I'm not sure.
Leopard 4092 1730kv, Tunrigy 180a ESC
Temps after three back and forth passes:
Motor: 112
ESC: 117
Capacitor pack: 127
Motor connectors: 160
Batteries: 92,99

So the epoxy isn't holding the stuffing tube tight? That's certainly not right. I had to SLIGHTLY bend my stuffing tube up because I think my flex was rubbing on the inside of the strut nose. You may have to adjust yours.Originally posted by Crash View Postgreat reply.

Wow Arrower, Great job!! I'm willing to bet the hull has another 10-15 MPH before it starts to get upset. Happy to see you pushing this hull faster and faster each time I peak my head in here. I'm going to share your video on my FB page, if you don't mind.Rafael Lopez

Thanks! I don't mind you sharing the video. That's why I film them. 80-85 is something to shoot for! I'm enjoying the process of testing and tuning.

Ran a Prather 235 this morning to 62.0mph and 39.2 on 4S. I wasn't able to take temps because I didn't have my temp gun with me. Temps didn't seem to bad just by feel. Water was very calm. Leopard 4092 and Tunrigy 180a.

Hi arrover,
I presume that you are just running straight ahead for a few seconds, then coming back in to get the reading. Is the boat stable enough to do laps around an oval course?

Yes I run as you describe. You can see it in the video a couple posts up. My boat is pretty darn stable with most of these props. It got out of shape in the video because of the wind and my own wake. So if you are doing laps around a course with other boats, you might need to set the boat up so it's a little more settled than mine. It would probably be slower but handle wakes better. I almost always have calm water so that's how I have my boat set up. I have spoken to rcboone2000 and he has his boat set up looser than mine so it is fast but the handling suffers. The way mine is now, I can still sport run the boat and run laps just like it was stock. I'm not sure I could run 70mph laps for a full set of packs though. Things would probably overheat but I haven't tried it. Hopefully that answers your question.
