Thanks Gimp, that's what i had in mind for the front too! As far as cooling, looks like you are goin from rudder to the ESC -to motor -to motor mount- then out, correct? I've been debating dual pick-ups but as long as the single rudder pick-up is sufficient for everthing then i won't worry about it.

Experiment w/ the water lines on the cooling part of the motor mount. Ive found in 2 of my boats I run cooler on the motor w/ out the motor mount cooler being hooked up. Someone told me the same and I thought, yeah whatever, but it was tru. But experiment and see what you get. What I cant remember if I was going motor first then mount or vica versa... either way I dont use it anymore

Thanks for the info Scott. I can see how skipping the mount would keep it cooler, the water's velocity will increase, yielding better heat transfer. I can't wait to get her out on the water!

Have a question about props... Should I use the Octura X44x or M44x series? I see the X series have more of a leading edge than the M series, just not sure which one is more appropriate for this setup.

I was going to try the FC CNC 44x props (half the price), but aluminum is pretty brittle compared to the BC's. Don't want to buy things twice.

the M series, or detongued props, from what I was taught unload a bit more as the tongue, used for holeshot, slows it down. So usually, you will see a small speed increase. I always ran m series on my genesis or detongued an x series. Actually, i run detongued props on all my cats and monos. ive also run the FC type props. they are made by Tenshock. Ive run them on 60mph boats w/ no issues as of yet. IMO they still need a tad bit of balancing. the one I had was actually pretty heavy on one blade.

Oh, and I say "had" because do to my forgetting to tighten a bullet, its on the bottom of the pond, hanging out with a M445 and my mini rio.

So you think I'd be ok with the FC's? I don't mean to sound like a cheapo, but it will save me a whole lot. I was planning on getting Bens 440, 443, 445, and maybe even a 448. That way I have multiple options for conditions.

You will be fine with the aluminum ones from fightercat they are nice props already balance and ready to go.
The one I have is well balanced and the tongue seams like it is removed a little bit more then x series props.

the cast ones are more expensive than the Octura. Unless your looking at finished props. What I would do, is get maybe the 443 from ben to get you on the water, and get a few others in Octura. get a balancer and learn to do the grunt work.. its a skill well worth learning how to do, and the basics arent that difficult to learn. Most props take less than an hour. And the money you save will be well worth it.
the 48 is probably out of your needed range

Being able to work props is definitely a good skill to have I agree!
I think most people can work props ok but it takes real skill to be able to make them a great prop.
I am still working on my skills it takes me longer then an hour but I like to go slow and do most of it by hand with a file.

I used Tenshock propellers for most of the season, and I'm addicted now... Yes, they require balancing, but it's still a lot less than starting form scratch on an Octura.
Another thing I found out is: same boat, same batteries, same size prop, the Tenshock gives a better speed at a considerably lower consumption. On the Mono1 boat, with 38mm props, I gained 45sec runtime with the Tenshock: that's finishing a 6min race or not

PS: Alan at Astec has a decent stock too...
