We did add caps to the older controls.

Hey Fellas...so, should I be worried about using the original UL-1 ESC w/no added cap board? I have seen that the new one has a much bigger cap now...

Sounds good...thanks Chuck! Are you getting much heat buildup on the older ESC?

no, everything is cool and i have run that thing about 30 times with no issues. the temps are all below 110 using 30c packs ranging from 3600 to 5000mah on a 1450 cut to about 48, pitched and cupped.

how do you guys feel about sanding the sponson overhangs- it says in the manual theyre only for getting on plane and if you use a high power motor then sand them off

I sanded everything off except for the rear overhangs on the sponsons and the tub (left the rear overhang on the ski as well)

                    Hope that helps...

i removed about 1/2 on the rear of the FE and left the nitro 12 and 21 full. i cant tell a difference but there is no issue with coming on a plane. i only did it on the fe to match the cut out for the turn fin.

The sides of our sponsons are sanded flush. These boats have no problem getting up with UL-1 power.

                          Three at a time

Here is the beginning of three builds I started yesterday for some friends that race gas boats. One is going to Michigan, one to Ohio, (D-2) and one will stay here in the Atl. club.
Tomorrow evening the floatation will go in and the decks will go on.
                          Then starts ''Sponson week" LOL
