Voracity, don't run any prop that isn't balanced. You will end up damaging the boat. It might be causing some of your handling issues too. If you look at post 289 in this thread you can read about my strut settings. I don't believe that you will need to lower your trim tabs when you have the boat set up right. I have not seen the need for an extra water pickup on this boat so far. The second pickup could be causing strange handling but I have not tried it myself so I can't say for sure.

Quick request, guys. Can you please post a pic or two of where you are locating your batteries in this boat?

I'm looking at running 6S2P, with a 6S pack on each side, which I'm assuming will require the cells all the way back to the motor.

However, I'm going to install a much bigger ESC, and I'm ting to see if the boat will balance with it just ahead of the motor instead off off to the left.

I suspect not, but figured it wouldn't hurt to verify that suspicion.

      Thanks.

One 3S 5000mah per side. Always as far back as possible with the stock tray/motor mount setup. Sorry I've never run with 6S packs.

Since my Zelos is down right now I decided to fix my Voracity. I haven't run it in months since I had messed up the stock rudder and two props, two runs in a row. There ended up being a submerged log right under the surface of the water where I was running. Anyway, I installed a breakaway rudder. I think this is the same rudder that Shua put on his Voracity. It's the same size as the stock rudder and the setback is the same as stock. The new rudder has four mounting bolts and so you will have to drill new holes. I used the upper stock hole for the upper left bolt in the new rudder. The other three holes had to be drilled. The base of the rudder is very close to the rubber rudder linkage boot but it works. I need to buy a longer rudder linkage rod to get the servo arm back to where I have full rudder throw.

I ran the boat this morning with a x452 so that I could compare to my older speed numbers. The water was about as rough as I would risk running speed runs in and the wind was gusting. The new rudder has a flat bottom vs the stockers angled bottom so I think the new rudder is adding some rear lift. The combination of conditions and the rudder made the boat wrecking loose. I wasn't expecting to run fast numbers but the boat ran 69.3mph on 6S. At one point the boat actually kited and I was thankfully able to lift before it flipped. I don't like my boats running this loose so I'm going to look into possibly angling the bottom of the rudder to reduce lift.

Good to see u back in action in some form. I never got to run my octura in calm waters, wish I still had that prop to give it a go in the river now. What's the fastest you ran your voracity stock? I don't recall if you had dived right into new props or not.

The fastest I ever ran it totally stock with the unsharpened stock prop was 48.7mph. That was before I learned how to tune the boat though. I Think there were a few more mph that I never got out of that setup.

I think that was with a ABC 2214-10-50. I've found a few props that will run around 70. This is with the Leopard 4092 and Turnigy 180a. All of my testing data is in this thread.

Hi guys, today i sharpened a prop. I have a safety question. Is the beryllium copper unsafe? I used breathing mask but no handshoes

Let me tell you what I was told by the owner of a prop company. The amount of beryllium that is in the prop is so small that it's not as big of a deal as it's usually made out to be. In other words for it to be a big concern you'd have to purposely snort it. If you play it safe, you have nothing to worry with.

Wear a mask and/or just use files and sandpaper dipping in water often to keep airborne dust to a minimum.
I rarely use power tools on props as I like to be as careful and as accurate as possible. Mainly use an air powered belt sander on stainless ones. Still wear a mask tho.
I don't wear gloves but I probably should as I cut myself often lol.
When I'm using water I rarely wear a mask anymore. But I go slow and make sure it stays wet.

Ok Thanx! I used a dremel powertool but wear a mask, so should be fine.

I recommend against that. The dust goes everywhere. Gets in your clothes. All over your shop. It's good you wear a mask for sure but I still think it's a bad idea to use power tools like that on them. If you do, keep the use to a minimum.

For those of you all that had leaky voracity's, what did you do? I spent my last 2 days off tearing down the V36 and silicone all the screw holes and reassemble. If that doesn't work, I'm thinking it may be coming through the shaft. How much grease do u guys pack on that shaft any how? Most of it don't make it in anyway right?

That should fix it... it did on mine. Light coat of grease on the cable and no water, ever now.

                                Hi all...

Have been messing with the ABC 2214-10-50 a lot lately together with Leopard 4092, 1730kv / 6s and Turnigy 180A esc...

As mentioned earlier I found out that the UnisensE 100A Telemetry adapter has a limit of 148A when measuring. It will let current go through until meltdown but it does not report anything above 148A

Well ... now with UnisenE 280A shunt I can again measure current...

With the ABC 2214-10-50 I have measured 277,4A !!!!!!!! Peak low voltage 20,4V (Turnigy Graphene) - that is 5.657 W

I usually boat in a small pond and only rund full speed for max 3 secs ... Yesterday I was at a bigger pond - really stretching legs with full speed for 7-8 secs...

It ended.... Boat simply stopped - completely dead ... Turns out that the 5,5mm gold connectors had soldered themselves off the battery packs. Seems there is a bit of resistance there

What do you guys use for high current connections / solder ???
