The best way for boat retreival

Just a suggestion on Aqua airboat. Upgrade the motor to a Balsa 2810/9 on 3S with a 8 x 6 prop. My one airboat is 8" x 23 7/8" and is kind of heavy with cg at 8". I'll check # on prop but I have a cat on my lap sleeping. BTW the motor is a AERO driver 3536-1400 on 3S with a 203 x 152- 8 x 6 APC I believe plenty of power.

On a sidenote, I just rigged up a Reef Racer 2 I have with an eye bolt epoxied in place that I'll attach 3 fishing steel leaders in series to and fishing line tied to the leaders with a reel. Drive the Reef Racer out to the boat, circle, and then reel it in. Nothing groundbreaking or overly cool there, but after doing a couple rescues with an Aquacraft airboat, I'm a little sketchy on it having enough power to push and/or drag in larger boats using the drag line I put up in certain conditions. Plus I don't think the steering is quite what I want it to be, whereas the Reef Racer 2 is pretty agile IMO. All speculation right now until I can test out the RR2 rig.

I'm still trying to decide what kind of rigging to put on it for rescue, I got a couple of ideas I'll let ya'll know what I come up with.

Please do so. I have an idea that I'm working to implement--my practice rescues were just pushes, as shown--and I'd love to see other ideas.

I just ordered a Southampton for a rescue boat this past weekend from a place out of Texas should get it Friday. I'm still trying to decide what kind of rigging to put on it for rescue, I got a couple of ideas I'll let ya'll know what I come up with.

I finally had a chance to test out the Southampton that Johnnysplits inspired me to acquire. It's a pretty fun little boat, but in a very different way from my Revolts. I replaced the receiver with a Spektrum 2-channel marine model, and setup skid/tank steering using two cheapo ESCs from HobbyKing. I'm also running a 2S LiPo. The boat turns in its own length thanks to the skid steering, but that also means that pulling full throttle only sends half power to each motor. Still, it has enough power to do its job. I executed a couple of practice rescues.

Im sure that this subject has been brought up many many times but im just trying to figure it out. Being that we run electric boats and not gas the likelihood that our boats are going to shut off in the middle of the lake is pretty slim I know it can happen but not that often. What i want to know is how you guys are getting boats back that have flipped over, rolled over, and or sunk down to the bow tip or just has a bit of the boat out of the water. I don't have the money or the resources to have a John boat or canoe with a trolling motor im looking for alternate methods of retrieval. Let me know what you guys do.

LOL now I have good reason to add a scale tug to the fleet! Can validate the purchase as a retrieval boat for the fast ones!
The Lobster boat isn't a tug...therefore I need a tug!

That's the same one I have, but I guess it was under aqua rider 703 before arctic hobby. The actual manufacturer is hobby engine. They make some cool stuff...highly detailed.

In warm weather months, I use a kayak. In cool weather months, I use my twin-screw AQUA RIDER 703 tug. About $130 from Wal-mart, with a 2S LiPo and a spare 2.4Ghz receiver, the tug tows a about 12 feet of nylon (floats) string with a fishing float on the end. Circle the string around the rudder or around the antenna tube and tow the stranded boat in. Very reliable.

Lol,,,,, as this thread was derailing from the op's idea I just thought I would add some humor as previous posts did. I'm not against kids as I am bombarded by them whenever I get the boats to the water and I must admit I am too a big kid. Aren't we all?? Any way good day to you and enjoy the retirement as now you can return to being a big kid comfortably and keep guiding our misguided youth into something productive for themselves. :) and I agree with kids of today but I don't hold them responsible for their lack of ambition or respect. As those ideals may be obvious to you and I but still have to be taught, a little better parenting would really benefit us all.

this thread is getting awesome lol. at the lake i run at on a busy weekend a drunk guy will usually offer to go swim for it. problem being they never really knew how to swim in the first place and realize that when they reach our boats which become 5,000$ life jackets.

def. reject the drunk guy's offer if at the lake no matter how confident he is that he can reach it

I wasn't thinking about the employing kids but for a job, but as a suggestion to get kids off your back in a mild way to solve a situation . This would help get kids involved in rc boats and learn . NOW DAYS , kids want it given to them on a silver spoon. I was a custodian for 600 kids and told the kids I would give them a dutch rub if they caused a lot of trouble and they would laugh and take off, LOL! They knew I was kidding and often wanted me to hold the long jump rope and at least 50 kids would line up. Now one time, the boss showed up and I got caught and was red the riot law. Now from then on, they watched me like a hawk and retired a little later at 62. The kids and I got a long great but the powers at be kept after me at any flaw they could find. Now at 77, I miss the kids only. Have a good day!

I was kidding about employing small children to be used for retrieval gaff. My lawyer advised against this as in this country there are child labor laws!!?!!!!?? As the famous words of P.T. Barnium," a sucker is born every minuet ".

Cooper, idea is to build 3 monos called Electrafieds. Easy to build and 22" long. Use car motors like 14t and make hardware. You could have the kids conduct a fund raiser for materials like wood, glue and see if someone can donate car motors they want to get rid of in decent condition. Make a concession to kids, if they break boats, they repair which will happen but also make kids think about response ability of driving. Just a suggestion only!!
