No GPS. I had a little too much positive angle in the strut and it was getting easily into the 50 mph range on 6s with a GR 42x55 prop. Didn't want test handling with the raw hatch. I was trying to take it easy and just get the strut tuned. There is a member who was interested in buying this boat, so I also am not going to be too risky with it. I'll take it out one more time to get a video of it running and then sell it to that member or put if up for sale in the sale forum if he is no longer interested. It's taken me a while to find time to finish this one. It's now finished except for mounting the antenna tube. Killed me to have to drill a hole in the hull, but with all the carbon fiber, it was a must to get the receiver antenna outside. So I'm putting the antenna mount on the inside and having only the clear antenna tube exit the hull with a tine rubber grommet to seal it.

Yeah, especially these hulls. They are so fragile. The part that makes it worse is I can't just go online and order another one. I looked and they are very scarce.

    Thanks for the compliments.

For this setup, the .078" wire is more than strong enough. It helps that I have shortened the length to only around 6 inches.

First chance to really test the boat. Nothing exciting. No cameramen available at the time so I had to shoot from a tripod, and edit the video to cut all the off-camera time. Needs a bit more strut, trim tab and turn fin adjustment. Was running on 6s (2x 3s, 50C, 4000mAh Lipo's) and the total run was five and a half minutes. Lipo's began around 4.17-4.18v per cell and were at 3.84-3.87 after the 5.5 minutes, so there's maybe a total of ten minutes run time available on 4000mAh's.

Hmm. Try again. I changed it from private. I'm not a pro at the youtube. Sorry.

Really like that last picture. Nice video too, I like the stability of the tripod. Didn't sound like you opened it up too much yet?

The only bad thing about the tripod is I can't zoom in on the boat to follow it while it's running. My wife said she might film for me on the next test run. I wasn't comfortable with it at full throttle. It's hopping out of the water & torquing the hull too much, so I'll try to get it stabilized. I really don't think this hull was meant to go beyond 30-40mph. The stock setup barely does 30's on 3s with an m640.

Now it lines up with the stinger. Ignore the temporary prop nut, please. LOL For some reason it came on the Wolt wire drive, and I haven't put an actual prop nut on there, yet. Jeff offers a 4mm to 3/16 stub shaft so I was able to retain the stock stinger and it's sealed roller bearings, and still run the .078 wire drive.

Those are cool trim tabs. Interesting that they are turned down on the inside. Have you run with this style before vs no turn down?

Similar trim tab/turn-fin combo's come on the Shockwave 26...but I haven't run this boat enough to tell a difference in these tabs with fins versus flat tabs. The current combo seems to be a little overpowered on 6s for this hull. Even with those little extra fins the rear of the boat starts trying to torque roll/walk quite a bit...which is worse when it's hopping out of the water at higher speed. Momentum says lets go straight, and the prop is trying to kick the rear of the boat to the side so it looks like a corkscrew. Who knows...maybe those little fins are keeping it from barrel rolling. I hope to get it back on the water this week with more adjustments.

That does seem likely. This was a boat hull I wanted before I went with the spartan. Its a very shallow v at the transom which makes since now that I think about it with those trim tabs. I have the same issue with the torque trying to turn the boat over. I got a longer rudder which helps some I think. I dont think theres much of a way to stop that without twins in counter. Boats are so light

I have a Spartan I started building a while back, but it got moved to the back burner for other boats. One thing I read, & am going to try with that boat, is moving the strut up & towards the starboard side about an 1/8" in both directions. I'll just have to drill, epoxy & reinforce the transom with carbon fiber plate like I did the rudder. I'll see if that, combined with the 5 inch rudder & 2", split trim-tabs will help with the infamous Spartan chine walk. It's got a 1600kv Leo 4082 in it spinning 48-50mm 2-blades so it will really be a chore to get it stabilized.

Last day of testing on 6s (2x 3s, 50C, 4000mAh Lipo's). Fairly rough water and wind on this day, but seemed to handle it ok. I think my tuning changes helped, but still couldn't get above half throttle due to the surface turbulence. Soundtrack is a flashback for those who remember 1986, LOL.

great looking boat on that water. took on those waves no problem. I have an issue after a run this weekend. i put the stock trim tabs on the boat (closer to the stinger) next to the new adjustable ones (in the stock position) and the boat bounces across the water with no wake. im assuming adjusting the trim dabs down to push the nose down should help. any other tips you can think of? i'll post a short clip when i get home tonight
