Installing stainless, flush hatch-bolts. Filled the rear corners of the canopy with G-Flex 655 and let it cure. Marked and drilled holes, with countersink for screw heads. I used the black screws in the pic's for reference. Stainless screws are being used instead of the ones pictured. I added a layer of carbon fiber with West Sys 105/207 to the underside of the canopy recess, in the rear corners where the bolts pass through. Next I'll epoxy nylon nuts to the underside for the hatch bolts to thread into. I like using nylon nuts because it keeps the bolts from backing out and makes a tight seal between threads. The paint on these KOS's is prone to peel off with hatch tape, so I need to line the rim with a foam/silicone seal of some sort to keep the H2O out in case this rig gets inverted. And I will be lining the canopy with one layer of 2x2 twill carbon, but I want to run it bare, first, for GPS numbers. So that will probably be the last thing done.

The rudder extended off the transom at a slight angle, downward, so I removed it and reshaped the shim which follows the contour of the transom. Now it lines up with the stinger. Ignore the temporary prop nut, please. LOL For some reason it came on the Wolt wire drive, and I haven't put an actual prop nut on there, yet. Jeff offers a 4mm to 3/16 stub shaft so I was able to retain the stock stinger and it's sealed roller bearings, and still run the .078 wire drive.

Re-installing the original 1825 Venom high-torque, metal gear servo. Made a little mount out of 2mm carbon fiber plate. Had to cut down the posts a bit. Just need to get it lined up with the rudder control rod and secure it in place. I think it's almost ready to get in the water.

Servo tray modified for servo mount, and servo installed. Rudder control rod cut, bent and set. All cooling lines installed. Programmed ESC for 6s, hooked up to receiver and tested servo and motor.

Now, just need to drill a hole in the hull for the antenna to exit. I REALLY don't want to have an antenna exiting the hull, but the inside is 90% carbon fiber, so I think it's a must to retain radio signal. I'll make it as inconspicuous as possible.

I'll take it out next week for GPS numbers and hopefully some video. Between my classes and work, this build has taken a lot longer than I wanted it to. Looking forward to getting it in the water.

Any thoughts about stiffening the hatch? Looking forward to hearing about the maiden run.

The hatch will get a layer of carbon fiber, but only after GPS results. Carbon fiber is to satellite signal as lead is to Superman. That's why people run carbon fiber hulls with fiberglass hatches.

I like the carbon fiber sowing through the windows. It was also necessary to prevent the plastic windows from being blown in if the boat takes a roll at speed...

Well, I'm pretty sick to my stomach. I didn't realize that I had damaged the canopy the last time I tested this boat. I ran it without the carbon in the canopy because I wanted to get some GPS numbers once I got it tuned, and I rolled the boat once. I brought it around to check and it looked fine. I see now that there are cracks in the canopy that weren't there before. It must have happed in the roll over, and now I can't do much about it because of the carbon inlay.

Very nice upgrade. Did you get GPS numbers? How did it handle?

                                This boat looks fantastic.

As far as the gelcoat cracks go, even with reinforcement it could have happened. I have some boats with serious layups for SAW and it has happened to them too. Seems to be the nature of things in crashes, but its difficult to see it this way, I never can lol.

                                Again, awesome build man.
