    Back to drive shafts if want to get technical about it. It comes down to torque and hp. The longer the drive shaft the more torque will be lost. As the load increases the clearance between the shaft and the tubing will change. If your shaft has a slightly tight fit it will only get tighter as the load increases. When there is a bend in a shaft it will also cause some power difference. There is more resistance at the bend. I think its good to talk about things like this and let guys look at things from a different direction.

    Has anyone run a 1527 1.5D on 10s? But mike. My motor mount is built and shipped. I will be setting up the new 32 and was wondering what S to go with.
    Howard wants to talk about drive shafts guys ! There are many diffrent types of drives right ? Wich is best ? What will put the most power to the prop , what type will be hard on a motor , wich have less drag , wich have less rotating mass , what type has gone the fastest , liner or no liner , .150 or .187 , ........................... the truth is they all can work good...... I have a prefrance to a style of drive that happens to be un popular, but it works for me ! I cant see the logic in thrusting with the motor.....Does a drag boat , car , comercial vehicle, dragster or a jeep thrust with its driveline ? I bet all these vehicles or vessil would handle diffrently and break more often if they did.... This is all the thought i need to justify the type of drive that i use.

    Yes you can really tell when someones just running there mouth versus giving real helpful info alot of that goes on here.Some even act like they are helping a man thats already faster to boost their credibility but "WE" can see right through it.

    Let plumbers plumb let engineers engineer and let talkers talk just not here on howards thread so Howard when you get an update holla at me

    There are a few who aren't mature enough to share opinions and a few who are too dumb/stubborn to know they can still learn from others (and a few who seem to prefer to wear their cheerleader uniform and just pretend they know what they are talking about, but thats a different story)...but I think most of us on here are grown up enough to have discussions and/or debates without taking our toys and going home.

    Im always looking to share thoughts and I respect those who can do the same. There are some great people on this website and intelligent discussion is always of value.

    Jaked your in the same school of study as me you make one like I am but we can move that discussion to off topic. I look at diy electric cars that a good place for info on esc's as they run upwards of 120 volts @ 700 amps


    Note: those amp ratings on fets arent real world they are package limited!read the fine print
    It's more to it than that. u have to consider gate capacitance and if the fet drivers can push the fets properly this has to be calculated. If you reversed engineered and esc you could make your own bridge for it but making one from scratch is not much more work. The code on your comercial esc is a another story entirely some of the manus scratch the numbers off so you have no chance of finding the isp port

    I think it would be sweet if someone made an esc especially for diyers that came with no fets or caps and you put on your own and had a separate voltage input for the control circuit. So the gate signal would always be the same so you could have 200V fets or 20V fets and the controller wouldn't know the difference.

    Yes 30 volts is right at 7 s so as I said they rate the esc's below the full capacity of the fets 7.14 s to be exact a little over 7 s

    How do you think mikes doing it
    The 6 s rating is about 84 percent of what the fet can do between 80 and 90 percent is typical .Well at least you have a spec sheet now free of shipping good luck with your experiments

    Your quite right Ray. The SeaKing and Turnigy 180 use 4833N FET's. Rated to 30v max. Since FET's are are the weakest link in our speedos taking them close to max voltage gate would not be too smart since I doubt anyone will derate the max operating current because they dont know how to do wattage calculations?
