The offset rudder is a big help. Another thing my boat is heavy so it is very planted.
Two 'secrets' to help a cat get going very fast....

If the prop is out of balance, it wont turn nearly as high RPM either, the boat will be slower. You will let us know if you confirm 100, right?
With a single motor the left side will lift. I have my 5s on the left and 4s on the right, i like the left side to be slightly heavier. My boat has a slight pull to the right but under full throttle it go's straight. If i had torque steer in this canal at my speeds it could go bad. Also i spend a lot time checking that my steering is tight and no flexing. The offset rudder is a big help. Another thing my boat is heavy so it is very planted. If the weight your adding adds hp then do it. I got the wife up to vid but its to windy. I'll try 2morrow, i really want it on vid.

This hull was very steady in the water at 100 thats why i think it will go 110+.

I was running 45,000 to 55,000 RPM's, were you running in this range?....I have found with the V900 props that if they do not hook up right away you need more RPM. How do you feel about this Jay?
I was running around 40K for the records. You may have to work at the best adjustment for the v900s, I thought I could run on the tips like we do with hydros but no. Too deep and they lift too much, but at the sweet spot they worked great.

I'm thinking about building a new boat that will run 110+. Building this boat to sell but ready for saw. I will do some more testing with the boat i have now to see if i can really do it. Just look out for the Howard Lee special.

The 1st thing i would do is set the prop angle to 3.0 mm and then adjust your batteries to were the boat rides good. When you get the bow to have a hop then move the batteries a 1/4 forward until the hop is gone. Before going with a bigger prop you need your setup right or you will just pull more amps then you need to. You should do 60 with no problem. When i started i had that same setup and run 60 but i don't remember what prop i used, i have 15 props and many test runs. I would say try a x442 and check your speed. If you have problems with steering you might want to think about a offset rudder.

The v900s do have a fair amount of lift although not nearly as much as the 1700, 2000 or 2100 series.
You will have to experiment with prop depth on your cat, I had to run my strut centerline even with the sponson bottoms with a bit of down angle at the prop end of the strut with the v900s, but that will vary depending on the hull.
Sometimes moving the CG back is needed, sometimes not.
It will take awhile for the v900 to hook up off the beach, be patient.

Great info Jay. It could be the reason my set up did not work on my cat. I will have to try your set up. I had the shaft center line about 3/8 above the ride pads. you ran it much deeper. We have a SAW coming up next month in L.A. the SC27 and the SC33 will be tested with this change one at a time. I was running 45,000 to 55,000 RPM's, were you running in this range?

It looks like it ended up working quite well once you got it sharpened and balanced though!
I like your big boat and i really like that motor and esc setup. back to props.

Im going to work on this abc to see if i cant get it right. It is a very well made prop and it did get me to a 100
