I'm not sure about inline rudders. I don't have anything with an inline rudder.

I don't like inline rudders,they ruin a perfectly good roostertail.
That being said,I haven't figured out why my Df mono has such a obvious one and the Miss Behavin' does not.Props are close,645 on MB,646 on the DF.
I gotta get some other boats named.

It is not actually an in-line rudder setup perse, but rather the positioning and relationship of the prop and rudder. My apologies if my explanation above was a bit vague, permit me to explain better ...............

Your boat is down on the floor and you are standing behind it - the prop is in the middle and the rudder is on the right side. Your strut is 2" long, so your prop is 2" away from the transom. You have a rudder with a 1" long bracket, if you install this your rudder will be 1" away from the transom. This is closer to your transom than the prop.
Next is you have a rudder than has a 3" long bracket, if you install this your rudder will be 3" away from the transom so this would be further from the transom than your prop.

So since the strut/prop has a constant measurement of 2" away from the transom - would there be any effects on running the boat if the rudder is closer (1") to the transom and ahead of the prop or 3" away from the transom and further back from the prop?

Let me support what Im trying to say thru pics - they all have offset to the right rudders:

I would be guessing Mac but, since it was mentioned that Cats turn better with the rudder close to the transom, and strut usually have short brackets, install your strut with 3/16 cable and do the adjustment with the rudder bracket to make the rudder blade stand beside the prop as seen on your 2nd photo. Then again, its just me! I could be wrong you know!

I'm not sure what effect having the rudder ahead of the prop would be,my first feeling is not that great.I would think it would then be fighting and hard on the servo and control.At speed anyway,slow may be different.Do you have brackets so you can adjust on hand?

Of all my boats, only the HK Princess Yacht has the rudder ahead of the prop. Well, its not a high performance race boat anyway, so I guess thats fine. However, I might get a bit longer rudder bracket for it just to see any difference.
I already ordered the rudder from ebay and got a 3/16" Strut with flex, struffing, etc. from Frank of Promise Hobby (ebay) for the 37" Cat so will check once they arrive.
Nonetheless, the strut would be installed first and at worse I guess I could have a bracket extension made for the rudder if it comes out too forward.

If it were mine, I would add some red to the tips to.
Like some jet fighter have.
How fast does go and do you get much run time with it ?

Thanks Lenny but its not my work. Its the work of a custom vinyl decal maker in a mall - just a small kiosk along the corridor. Its cut vinyl not printed, thus each color is cut and adhered in place. I did choose the design thou. I thought it would be something different apart from the usual paint.
They did tell me to bring the whole boat so they could design it better, but since I was doing some mods on the tunnel I just thought of bringing just the canopy.

I run this for the first time last Sunday - it was the first time for me to run a F1 Tunnel and also a first time for me to use an outboard setup. I really enjoyed my experienced thus I had new decals for it now. Here's a short video of the maiden last Sunday:

Edit: oh, those green marks are side mirrors which the decal maker added without telling me hahahahaha!

The F1 looks great Macdon. As far as the rudders go, you dont ever want the rudder in front of the prop. I always have it just behind the prop. looking from the side of the boat on cats.

I already ordered both the rudder and the strut - so with the consideration of keeping the rudder close to the transom but still behind the prop, then the worse scenario for me is just having a short custom rudder bracket made by a machine shop. Not really a biggie, so I think Im good to go.

Here's a new question thou:
If a single battery pack could fit in the middle of the Cat with all considerations like cog, etc. done correctly - would you do it or still go with having 2 batteries - 1 per side?

Hmmm.........so 110mm (4-3/8") is enough for the 37" long Genesis? My 30" long MG is using a 115mm rudder.
Okay, thats food for thought. But since the custom 37" Cat is wider than the Genesis - maybe a longer rudder is needed? Maybe? Should be? Could be? hahahahaha!
