Shawn, my ekos has a clear windshield but I'm thinking of replacing it with a thicker clear lexan or flexiglass to beef it up a bit during crashes. LED to lit up a boat is a good idea. I have a bunch of small LED's that we use on motorcycles but they are only rated @ 12V.

It' is real common to find 4.5 volt LED's,then you can run a resistor to knock down voltage to get 4.5 or run them in series to the desired voltage.12 volt LED's?Got a link.
I was thinking of doing a lit up Cheetah hull before all this talk of a 37" MG.I don't have room to stockpile hulls and too many projects overloads me.

Yes, just took them when I saw your post. The original MG has a bigger angle below the bow, so I lowered it somewhat on the 37". Cats nowadays have basically a flat top in the bow, thus a huge angle below grabbing wind and the possibility of a blow over. I lessened than angle when I made the 37" Cat with a slope that is much further back so the angle is less steep.

With so many cellphone repair shops/kiosks here in Manila, one can actually buy a handful of LEDs in various sizes and colors, wire them in either parallel or series to get the power you need for them. I remember getting 4 blue LEDs for my Halo Masterchief helmet a few years ago powered by a small 9v battery - they still light up till now! hahaha!

I really appreciate your concern Shawn and actually wanted to discuss this topic more thru email if possible. Molding this 37" Cat is no laughing matter, and frankly - I could use the money in buying boats, motors, batts, etc. I was up to the challenge, so I made it happen - but I do not want to mold something that either you or any of our friends sharing in this thread may have concerns on its design. The purpose of conceiving this project in this thread is for everybody to share their input which may ultimately lead to something we could all enjoy. A win-win scenario!

As for blowovers - too many factors will affect these, both man made and natural. Even the real Cats blowover like rc cats do, so I guess setups play an important part for any hull.
Once the Cat would be ready for molding, we would be painting it in a single color and I will post pics here as much as you guys wanted. Only when all of us wont have any concerns will molding proceed.

Good good Mac.Most things can be taken care of with weight distribution.And there should be room for that.

Jason only my Twin has the rudder forward and a Vhull i have and ive seen no problems,, Mac ive seen people tape a tooth pick under the front of there hydros to brake the air coming under the front,, helps keep them from flipping,,as for a windsheild i recomend painting it on, tape cant flex around the angle of most canopies,, ive tried many..chrome paint works well..

Sorry Shawn I don't have a link but these led's are very common here and we use them on motorcycles for example. It come in many forms and sizes. There are led's that are individual bulbs, in flexible strips that are also waterproof, led's on pcb boards in square, round, rectangle shapes etc. All are 12V. Available colors are red, white, blue, amber, purple, green. There's also 7colors bulbs that changes color every second automaticaly.

37" Cat!

Alright guys, I just got back from Macdon's place to brings some stuff and get my skunkworks cat. I also saw the 37" Cat for the first time. I'm very impresed with what Macdon did to the boat. The shape was streamline, the details like hatches, air scoops, etc were superb! The ride pads are perfect! The 37" cat is much, much more sexier than the PB Geico in my opinion! No offense to MG owners! I can't wait to see how the turbine canopy will turn out! Well, no doubt it will be sweet and it will make the cat even better! I will definately own one of these I told myself while I'm looking and admiring Macdon's work! I'm glad we dared him to make it happen! Keep up the good work Macdon!

While the conditions today was not ideal for running a F1 Tunnel (4-5" of chop and very windy), I still went ahead to test the F1 even if to just run down the batteries (I hate the long wait of placing freshly charge batts to storage mode).
The 4074 seems heavy and very torquey as it was leaning to its right side to every chop it jumped. A bit too much of a motor for a 24" hull.
Anyway, Tagasagwan visited me today and brought my sv27 3656 1800kv motor which he outfitted with new bearings, so I'll test that for the F1 next time around.

Good news .............. bad news!
Well, after about 3 weeks under water, my mini deep vee was finally found by a fisherman! Yey!
Canopy was lost so everything got drenched! Boat's finish seems like a reptile skin - dunno if thats the paint or primer or both. Nothing that a sandpaper wont fix and a re-paint. I took out all the hardware, batt is bloated and dead, esc checked fine on the program card and bec seems to work but motor is giving beeps and not moving. We tested the outrunner motor on a different esc and it seems to run fine but Tagasagwan noted that the bearings should be replaced - so both motor & esc went home with him to see what he can do.
Rx seems fine and we tested it on a different esc - that Flysky rx really could take a beating! hahahaha!

Tagasagwan also brought my Geico "Caveman" vinyl decals for my Geico gasser - so will post pics tomorrow after I adhere them!
My friend also told me that I could bring my gasser to him this week so he could start installing the final work - finally the long wait is over! hahaha!

Yeah lucky to get that boat back after being submarine for 3 weeks! hahaha! Well, his T-60 esc and outrunner is with me. The motor seems fine but needs new bearings. The esc well, I'll see what I can do! Crossing my fingers! Hahaha!
