What did you do to your boat today?

i acquired another boat yesterday...LOL coworker gave me an FT012 that he found on a pond he fishes... hes not an rc guy, and they didnt have a controller... its an early version with an integrated receiver/esc unit, so that got torn out yesterday...LOL i am assuming the battery is shot, since its been plugged into the esc for 2-3 years....but we shall see if it takes a charge, in a safe place away from any combustibles of course.... i can throw the stock esc from my vector 70 in it and a spare reciever for the time being..LOL nothing beats a free boat... even if its just a cheap plastic boat....LOL

**edit** the battery is toast... not even going to try charging it... voltmeter on the leads shows. 0.04v, and its a 3s.... not going to risk it... 3s 1500mah packs can be had cheap enough.... a fun little winter projects now, since i wat to tear it apart and paint it custom, since the stock red graphics scheme is pretty cheesy to say the least.... it may end up in the Stihl Livery, or something along those lines... LOL i am a Bronze Certified Stihl technician...LOL

Well after 10+ hours of sanding off my first attempt at basecoat I finally got to re-primer my MHZ Mystic 1380. Wet-sanding should only take an hour or two and then its time for a good bath and degrease before setting up for round 2 of basecoat. You probably won't notice much difference unless the original bearings were really shot.

how about the stainless steel push bike spokes. you can get these from 440 size and up. saves work.

Stainless rod threads ok, some grades can be slightly tougher to thread. Better using HSS taps or dies on stainless as stainless is harder on tooling used.

Did you use anything special, or just a standard threading die?

No just a standard die and used a Wynns engine oil friction proofing as cutting fluid lol. Nice clean threads.

I threaded stainless rod with a standard (cheap) thread die and cutting fluid. It was slow going, but I got enough threads for the ball joint ends to full engage. You can't beat the fit and finish with a setup like that.
