As many of you know i have been trying to get a Toysport Triton to handle for a while now. Well I quit I just cant get this boat setup. It handles like S***. I am going to list the hull on the swap shop soon. I will be keeping the 8 XL, Hydra 240 Speedmaster hdwe. I want to purchase a Delta Force hull. Which one should I get and what prop on direct drive with 4S lipos? Thanks Will

What handling problems are you seeing? That hull should handle well into the high to low 50's mph area.

mine (similar setup) seems very sensitive to center of gravity changes. I tried moving the batteries to get the CG to around 27% and it was awful.
At 30% it's a tad wet, (likely underpropped) but handles really well for me.
I have a pretty huge turn fin...dunno how much of a factor it really is though.

My rudder is probably extending 2" below the strut.
Speedmaster strut is shortened, can't remember how long it is...I'm sure pics would help, I'll work on that.

Stepped hulls can be difficult to tune, and what works on a no-step may not apply to your stepped Triton. With my stepped hull experience (self-designs and an H&M Streamer), the strut needs to be parallel with the points of the steps - which I believe you tried. The CG is critical, and depends on the size and placement of the steps. But the problems mentioned above suggest a rudder which is too short. Spinning out is a common side effect of a short rudder, since it is the only thing that is holding the transom in place against prop walk. The effect is magnified with a stepped hull since there is less keel near the transom to help hold against prop walk.

It is difficult to tell from your photos in the Triton thread, but you should have a minimum of 2" of rudder below the bottom of the strut. It may take more than that. Remember that when at full speed on step the top of the rudder is out of the water, further reducing the side resistance to prop walk. A longer and perhaps wider rudder may solve the problems.
