I got my Mean Machine today.

Well I got my Mean Machine today and I sure am puzzled, why would a company put so much effort into making a Hull and taking alot of pride in the fit of the Hull but take no pride what so ever in the finish of the Hull.

I really don't understand why they even put Gelcoat on a Hull if they are going to blindfold the that's putting the Gelcoat on there Nick's everywhere along the one seam and in the back corner it look's they gave the job of fixing a spot where the gelcoat did not stay on,it truly looks like's they gave that job to the Village Idiot and gave him free rain on how to best fix the problem and it look's like he choose Liquid Paper ony a much harder drying version.

Don't get wrong I understand the Mold's get old and everything won't be perfect but for crying out loud don't offer a Gelcoat finish if you are going to do such a bad job olny to have may re-paint the Hull and add even more un-wanted weight to the Hull, why just shoot the thing in primer after it comes out of the Mold.

I'm glad it's here and it is straight and the Fit and FiberGlass work is pretty good,I just don't get it if I would have gotten a yellow Hull what have been the point to make me re-paint over again if it showed up looking like this one, where the Deck is joined to the Hull on the one side of the Hull look's really nice but the other side Nick's in the Gelcoat and the FiberGlass Resin is pale yellow the way it should look and in other spot's it's a really deep brownish yellow that can't be hidden by anything other then Paint, also I don't know how to upload pic's on this forum and I can't be bothered right now maybe later I will post some pic's.

Did you buy from Steve at OSE or direct from Aeromarine?

If it was from Aeromarine was it the discounted ones in the clearenced section?

If you bought from Steve you should talk directly to him.

Relax, once you're kranking corners at over 50mph you'll be a happy man. ALOT of guys can go Very fast straight with their narrow hulls but I kill them in corners...

This is true... I bought a MM from a buddy with hardware. It has tons of flaws even after repaint but, again runs like a champ!!

I'm just going to keep the thing now as I don't feel like waiting 20 month's for a new Hull to show up to and not look perfect the way it should,I did not know aeromarine did such horrible work and were not swift about the whole Gelcoat thing, you would think after this many year's they would Gelcoat it at all if and would figure it out that it's just extra weight you don't really need on top of paint.

Nothing is that bad it can't be sanded out and painted over it's just an insult to tell me it's a White Gelcoat when it is some crappy job they did on it.

Also I got the Hull from Kintecracing as I had waited for a month with Steven and I did not want to wait any longer as I knew I was running out of time this year to be able build it and run it.

Aeromarine makes badass race boats. Their performance is what counts. Perfect gel coat is for shelf queens. Maybe you would rather have a pretty boat that has terrible design?

You have to thank Gov. regulation for what gelcoat they can use well, to some degree.

In China you can get away with using any gel coat, in USA Aeromarine has been limited to water based gel coats that aren't as tough as others.

This is what I have heard....

It' not something some Sanding won't fix and there are a few Nick's where the Seam is joined together and it will be pointless to try and fill the them in with Spot Putty as it will most likely fallout anyway and when it get's painted it will hide where you can see the FiberGlass, but here's the point why sell me a yellow boat and say there you go Sir just you asked for a nice new yellow boat and leave a bunch of ruff Spot's in the Gelcoat olny to have me take it home and put it together and re-paint does that not take the point out of getting it in the colour you asked for in the first place.

I'm not so much Mad about having to Paint it I'm Mad because I did not want to Paint it and more care could have been taken and also if they could make these just bare Hull's with no Gelcoat no nothing on it and just shoot a Red or Grey Primer on it afterward's I'd rather see that then waste Geloat and Pollute are Air for no reason when I'm going to have to redo what they did and now I get Pollute more by not just having to Clear Coat the Hull witch was what I was going to do and get Monojeff to make me some Decal's now I get spray paint as well.

I wish my Camera took better close up's because if it did you would see why I'm not real happy right now, they fixed up the rear corner that look's like someone just used Liquid Paper on it it's that ruff and it would be to like giving a paint brush and some paint to a 4 year old and watching him load up a paint brush with as much paint as possible and slapping it on a foot thick and never even knowing that what I would except from a 4 year old if I let them paint my house but not from a House Painter and it's the samething with this Hull it just show no sign's of care in a few place's and show's no respect to me the customer by not teilling me that my Gelcoat is going to be a really crappy looking job when it is done.

And yes I'd rather have a great handling Hull over a Shelf Queen and the other Point is they should not be showing Shelf Queen's on there website and not delivering the same thing to people's door's

Mine was the same way. Since you obviously are upset, return it and buy a different brand of boat, because all the aeromarines are this way.

you are correct wade, it shouldn't be so bad that it's not presentable, I know Remy very well and although their gelcoat and construction are not perfect they are usually presentable, I would call Kintec and see if they had any part in this, some hulls sit in stores and shops for literally years sometimes they fall off shelves and get dings and they try to fix them themselves/

Yep....what ray said..... I bought a few hulls from them and the gellcoat was top notch but...that was in the early '90's. They have had to switch from the gelcoat products that they were allowed to use (that looked great) to the water based formula that they use now, just be thankful they are still making great boats....

Here is my Aeromarine Sprintcat that I bought 20 years ago from Aeromarine (before they added the Hobbystop hobby shop) - small chip on the right sponson was from me:
