Tony, the caste/neu motors are EXCELLENT! I've owned and rall all of them. Great power, cant tell the difference between these and the neu's in performance.

i went to all castle motor i only had one neu but it was great i now own 2 1515s and 2 1512s and dont see myself buying anything else power and value im sold and having replaced bearings on one cc1515 i have to say well built inside and out

I just aquired a 1515 1Y made end of last year. It has the flexible silicone wires coming out of the endbell, unlike any other Neu motor I own. Damn thing is that the silicone insulation was split JUST as it exited the endbell, inside the exit hole with the bare wire exposed, just waiting to short out on the motor can/endbell. Lots off silicone now (hopefully) isolates that wire. Another 1515 1Y went south on me the other day and I called Neu today and was told @ 5 weeks to do the trade-in deal for a new one. That's just crazy. Tech was out today, will call tomorrow & ask about the flexi wire.

Are the Castle/Neu's a good alternative ?? Castle's site sure pumps them up as a good motor. Anyone ?

On my 1515 1y the motor wires appear to be tied tightly to windings using strong cord.

After a few attempts I got through to someone and was told tech support is "out for the rest of the day" so I'll try tomorrow and let you all know what they say. I really hope this is just some bad luck and that there will be something resembling a happy ending........

I have (2) 2215/1y motors built at different times. The can on the newer of the two is longer. By a lot. Screwed me up. I should have known better though. Stuborn.

The sky might not be falling but that doesn't change the fact that I'm going to be asking a bunch of questions when I call them later today. If I don't like what I hear then there are other options but hopefully I'll have good info to post up later after that call is completed.

It looks as through Neu has switched to an intermediate lead wire to exit the can where as before the copper winding came directly out of the can, was stripped, twisted and tinned together.

Bummer again Don, Hopefully Neu will go back to the old style of leads.

The pics shows what the good style leads look like.

My Neu 1527 and 2230 must have been older, they all have short/rigid wires coming out at the back, no flexible silicone, just very stiff coil wires tinned and insulated. That way they have no chance to have a melted solder joint inside like yours.

Looks like they did learn something from Castle but probably not the very best ones. Some feature works great in cars, and only in cars.

Yup, my 1527 1.5D is as you describe. I'll be real interested in what they say but at this point I'm almost expecting to plan on switching to the German motors if this is the sign of the future. And only 12AWG wire on a 1527 1Y?? WTF were they thinking.....
