    I was thinking the same thing. If you have a flexible wire coming out of the can it can go any direction and keep it shorter. The old way I have always been scared about breaking the motor wires from multipliable bends time after time. As long as the wires do not come out of the can it is ok and when it does they warranty for life of the windings.

    I ordered a Neu 1515 1Y motor from Steven early this year and the motor wires are all black...no extra shrink on the wires after the endbell and no exposed wires inside the endbell that I can see, The covering on the wires seem a bit different than the covering on my Hyperion lipo leads....is this a good thing? Hopefully I won't have any problems with this one...anybody?

    I still like the motors, just think that there's got to be a better way around this. Not to mention I'd like to see at least 10AWG rather than 12 but hey that's just me. Maybe all this will result in some "tweaks" to make it better......

    Tony, cooked a Castle and it wasn't on the edge. I haven't opened up yet, but I'm willing to guess they are non-segmented and it threw a magnet. May be an exception, but that's my experience. In my case, it may very well be that they can't handle the RPM.

    I luv ya Doug! Its always little tid bits that add to the bigger picture. I agree with you 100% on the logic. All my Neu's are built with the older motor leads comprised of stator wire extensions. Thats one of the things years ago that had me questioning the CC/Neu series. I could not see why anyone would end the stator windings only to add extension wires out of the can. Now it makes sense. An answer to wire flex wear. Now I understand why my last Neu 1512 has those darn grommets in the end bell supporting the wires.

    Remedy: 1527, 1521 cooler. 1521, 1515 cooler. 1515, 1512 cooler.
    Also, if you have a dremel it's pretty simple to notch the mount enough for the side of some screw heads.

    Rail mounts wiil work fine. There is no reason you have to put the mount where the screw heads stick out.

    Rail mounts won't work easily with the new screws not being flush. Why would you say that??? UNLESS like SOMEONE else mentioned you notch where the screws will be.

    I also just received a 1527 with thin wires. I have not powered it yet and would like to tag along here. I am about to order a 1521 from Steven... maybe. Neu charges alot but until recently they have been worth it.
