Yeah, the rudder pickup works best at speed. 20+ and you should see a nice flow. I just ran mine this morning and there was a good flow coming out.

BTW, I forgot to mention yesterday: I got some lube coming up but she was completely dry inside.

Mind you I've run her for only 10-15 minutes so that might be the reason....

Also I had the impression that the water pickup was not really working as well as it should, how much water should come out? Should that work at any speed?

The motor/ESC were not hot at all, so I'm guessing it works only a high speed?

Yeah, just read up in the thread and add the stuffing tube and liner. That will keep it straight. I also added a small support at the tail of the motor.

So I got my Crusher wet tonight...

Holy #$@% that thing was screaming!

Too bad the receiver I had is a piece of crap (FM), as soon as I pushed more than 20 feet away it would start glitching.... Sigh...

Guess what I'll be buying tomorrow...

FighterCat57: I think you might be right about the cable vibrating, I was testing her on the deck and a couple of times the whole strut assembly started vibrating like crazy at WOT, I don't think the prop would cause THAT much vibration even if it was unbalanced, what do you think? Also it would vibrate at any speed, not only at WOT. I'll take a video when I have some time...

I'll re-check the prop balance just in case, it was balanced before...

Is anyone running the stock ESC? What type of RX/TX are you using? Any problems with interferences? I'm was thinking of getting a spektrum marine receiver, anyone using one of those?

No I have not. I was running the boat in chopy water so I am sure the wave action had alot to do with it.

Yeah, the choppy water definitely has an effect on that area. The cracks look to be in the same place as if the motor was pressed against the hull. In that case, a tail support might help too.

Did you install a brass tube over the teflon drive tube? We're starting to think if the cable starts to flap around it could put undue stress on the motor mount area which could be attributing to the break.

Flex cables shouldn't be run without a hard tubing. They can torque out of shape and vibrate like mad.

I was running a stock setup except with a 90a Seaking ESC.
running 2x 2cell 5000mah Turnigy hardcase lipo's.
I also run 2x2cell turnigy Life packs.

I picked up a fiberglass patch kit today for $20 I am going to try to fix it.
I will start a new thread showing the process.

Thats a good Idea with the ply. I just has another look it's cracked pretty bad from the motor mount back down both sides of the hull

I was looking at that hull as a replacement not sure if the surge crusher hardware would work on that hull. Idea's anyone?

Depends on the size of the rudder mount base... There is about 19mm of height available on the tail of the new cat hull.

The other option is to find a longer strut hanger that accepts the rudder and just replace it, making the existing hardware an "all in one".

If you use a counter sink drill bit and a tapered SHCS you could mount the rudder to the end of the strut holder and it would work.

As for using the hardware as is, the rudder mount is slightly larger than the space available on the transom of the HOTR/Apparition/EKOS hull. I'll check the R2 cat hull when I open the box later tonight.

BTW- I started a "Project Surge Crusher" thread in the Boat Builds forum, where I'll be chronicling my build version. =)
