Crackerbox and ECO are already there... but neither really in a form that anyone wants to run...

Now, if you revised Crackerbox to be 1/10th scale sized boats (about 30", right?) using the P-Spec power system...

Not sure about ECO, but it seems that, if you are going to retain it, that you'd want to make it more in line with our European counterparts, so their equipment would be directly compatible...

Sorry.... I know that all makes just TOO much sense to even consider... but it's what I think would work well...

You have to be a member of either NAMBA or IMPBA to qualify for the 10 dollar race fee if you race out side of NAMBA or IMPBA..

    Hum.. that’s hard to qualify..

    Lets see..

To race for the 10 dollar fee in a IMPBA event you must be a current member of NAMBA.. of vice a versa..

Still not sure that came out right..

    Darin,
Great post! You are absolutely right on all of your points. I'm like you though, I don't need the 'punishment' dished out when just trying to improve or 'overhaul', as you said, the rules. Been there, done that, and STILL getting flack! I would really like to see the classes you mention, crackerbox, ECO, Cat hull, etc.

    Thanks for your input!

    • LSH/LSO are toast...
    • Crackerbox??? ECO???
    • The Power classing structure is completely outdated. There are WAY too many power classes, originally based on the idea of cell count.
    • There needs to be a CAT hull-type added as a class (like Nitro and Gas)
    • TRY building a NAMBA legal P-OPC Tunnel... I dare you! (I am particularly fond of the part where it says that any rule pertaining to a legal Nitro OPC must NOT apply to an FE OPC... )
    • The battery rules/limits need to be revised to better fit what people are doing. (For example: get rid of the stupid paralleling limits... which keep otherwise perfectly acceptable battery combos from being used... like a 4000mah pack made up of paralleled 1000mah cells, etc.. it's a rediculous, non-sense rule)
    • P-Spec style power class update???

Ya... I'd say some major items need to be addressed... I'm sure if I got my book back out I could find many, many more detailed items that need to be addressed.

HOWEVER, it doesn't really matter, because even small, more focused updates... which would be meant solely to FIX things in the book, are meet with exactly this kind of negative, sticking your head in the sand reaction... and we go on letting the individual events and CDs decide what actually is and isn't allowed...

    Doug!
Cut it out! I said in my post "Please correct me if I'm wrong"! One of the members here graciously pointed me to where the updated rules are and I thanked him. Why couldn't you have done the same instead of jumping on me! I don't need your constant bashing! I WROTE SEVERAL PROPOSALS FOR HERB TO SUBMIT! He just couldn't put it in the words so I helped him out. I'm not a member of IMPBA so I don't vote. Get it? Even though not a member, I helped out the district director whether you want to believe that or not. I'm in NAMBA basically for the same reason you're in IMPBA, but you have been on my case for anything and everything for a couple of months now and accusing me of things you know nothing about. Get off my case! PEACE!

If you want to take this further, we need to do it in PM, NOT HERE!

Why, because it's easier to bitch and complain than it is to get involed and oh I don't know, read, or write a proposal,or perhaps just vote . Give me a break.

If you don't vote, at the very least, a you don't have an opinion and should as far as I'm concerned.

    Off of the soapbox.
BTW I'm IMPBA because that what we have here. If it were NAMBA country, I'd be a NAMBA member and just as involved.

    Have a great day fellas!!!

    I'm a member of both.

You can purchase single event insurance for a namba event even if you are not already an IMPBA memember. It does not work the other way around though. I have know idea what the reasoning is either way.

Darin, a complete overhaul? Really? Your right about one thing. You'll never get support for a do over. How do you know when your done? When attendance reaches "X" at the NATS? When people stop saying things like "the rules need a complete overhaul"? Not gonna happen.

In NAMBA, Waters does check in with a list of FE guys that he trusts when FE issues crop up. And not just guys that will tell him what he wants to hear either. I respect him for that.

My only beef with IMPBA is that the FE chairman doesn't run FE boats. Just doesn't make much sense to me. It would be like me being the nitro chairman.

I have another question along the same lines. Maybe another poll. How many of you don't race because you think the rules are unfair, broken, complicated? My point being that the rules some say need to be flushed and replaced aren't the thing keeping guys from racing. It's not the rules.

I'm a member of OSE. Does that count?

We have boat clubs here, but none are NAMBA or IMPBA. Would like to join one though.

I'm a member of both. I race my FEs with my NAMBA club in Madison, and race my nitros with my IMPBA club in Racine. My IMPBA (nitro) club has been letting me run my UL-1 in the nitro sport 20 class as well though... who knows they might even add a FE class next year due to increased interest in FE.

Jan, I have followed F1 for 45 years and the rules change every year and I do agree with you as it has become a politcal circus...ERNIE

My hero is Jim Clark, but technology advances demand new rules and if you wish to race, yes you might have to build a new boat. I am in favour of racing that allows the old/vintage specs to survive as a series. Even if all the clases ran together, it would just be FUN

    Grim,
Exactly what I meant. Maybe I didn't state it correctly. You must belong to ONE of the two organizations. I belong to NAMBA but can run at an IMPBA meet by paying an extra $10 for the insurance. I know the opposite is still try in NAMBA from a race we were at three weeks ago. Could be IMPBA has changed that rule. Not sure.
