Best Lipos for the buck ??

Thank you for the reply. Iam glad the hull wasn't damaged. I had a pair of TP lipo, (2s), forgot the exact name, they went bad quite quickly as well, that was 2years ago, I ran them in my Formula FasTech.

I've got a couple of packs in the doctors surgery at the moment waiting for an operation. A couple of Zippy 5000mah packs with a cell in each that's got high internal resistance & take forever to balance up. And of course they discharge faster & lower than the other cells under load. So they get hot & puffy. I'll turn them into 3s packs. They will blow if I keep using them as they are.
Repairing packs gets easier on the nerves after the first couple of times. But always safety first. As an Electrician dealing with 240V, 415V, & sometimes 11,000V, I have a healthy respect for the power of the electron. Even at 3.7V/cell in a lipo.

LOL, and here I was waiting on a PM... Just happened to check this thread out again... I haven't seen those with 5 caps before. Will go with it then. The one I'm looking at has 3 on the unit and 4 more in the extra cap pack... Thanks Lenny !

One more question for you guys, Should I go ahead and remove the stuffing tube on the MG and jump on up to the 3/16's flex cable instead of the .150 with a hot 6s setup and 6000 mah bat's ? Seems like I should...what say you ?

Ok so since Ive read this from front to back Ill toss in my 2 cents. I work at a local hobby store and about 2 years ago I bought 12 yes 12 Thunder Power 65c 2 cell lipos and of that 12, 6 puffed or exploded with lack of anything better to call it. 2 actually burned up while running my UL1 at low speeds with some quick bursts but NO long drawn speed runs. 2 puffed while still in the bags from buying them. They were really cool on warranty sent me another 6 which a couple of the had issues too. When trying to warranty both sets of bad packs I got the your using the wrong charger and you need to use the Thunder power charger we will sell you for x amount of dollars. I used a Ice charger and Team Checkpoint at the time and have a Venom and Hitec now. I still use the Thunder power batteries but do have good luck with Venoms and Traxxas lipos too. We mainly run them in buggys and have a Flux,e-revo and Summit. Id like to think Im not hard on them and dont race. Just my 2 cents

Well now I have a total of 6 Thunder Power 6S G8 2700mA 70C LiPo packs.
At $170 AUD each here is my report as a consumer:
Firstly, I use an Absolut 1807 Dual 300W + 300W charger set at 1C on both channels.
It's fed off 2 X 45 AHr Pb Gel Cell batteries in parallel. They are in turn constantly trickle charging from a 13.8 VDC 5A power supply.
Charging timeout is set to FIVE HOURS!
Maximum charge current is set to 2.7 Amps per channel at 4.2 VDC per cell.
I have yet to charge any of the Thunder Power packs without some form of balancer discrepancy showing up i.e. "Balancer voltage too high" or "Time out" occurring.
Pack resistance varies from minute to minute from 0mOhms to 500mOhms+
I've suffered balancer open circuit after a single run on 2 packs so far.
I've had them replaced under warranty.
Perhaps it's my charger... yet it has worked flawlessly with many other brands in the past.
Can I say I have faith in any of the packs I paid my hard-earned $1000+on?
No.
Am I asking too much of them?
If temperature readings are anything to go by, then again, no.
I keep them well below 50c running 12S ie 2 packs in series.
My data logging says 100 Amps at best and they've been easy test runs.

Just lost balancer circuitry on yet another 2 Thunder Power 2700mA 6S G8 packs
Bear in mind they do tend to get wet when drive train failures occur (snapping 3/16" flex drives).
Oh well - what's another $340 bux...
At this rate I might go back to burning nitro.

I'm hearing good things about Dr Wayne's Entropy 6S 100C 5800mA packs.
Have ordered a couple to trial.
I'm running a 12S setup using two Thunder Power G8 70C Pro Force 6S 2700mA in series (yep, bought some more because Dr Wayne is taking his sweet time...)
Will be interesting to see the comparison.

I've also constructed a waterproof box out of 3mm reinforced ABS, Perspex lid cemented on top and lined with 20mm foam for impact absorption.
8 Gauge with 8mm bullets doing the power transfer.
I'll give anything a try if it's worth the effort.

2700 Mah isn't much for a 100 amp drain current. Seems like you are pushing the cells pretty good, chart is hard to interpret. It shows an 80 volt reading when you say you are running 12s at 44.4v which leads me to question the accuracy of the temp sensor I would expect to see some increase in temp from start to finish.

I expect you will see better performance out of the larger 5800mah packs.

Also I only see spikes up to 30 (amps?) on the chart. At least TP replaced,your packs
