The hard case packs with the banana plugs,
Also really any hard case pack are not the best for boat.
Did you do a search for info yet on hear to find the info you are looking for ?

Page two, Post #70 on hard case with the plug in wires.

I've done a thousand searches for info my friend and have read a thousand threads. Reading up on batteries was hopeless. To many conflicting stories on batteries but after reading MarkF's thread on Dinogy bat's I think I made a good choice. We will see. Seemed every time I thought I was getting sound advice someone else would cut in and say something else.
I have seen several people running the HC's in the MG and BJ so I didn't think there would be anything wrong with it and frankly I thought it would be better than a softy because boats like that get banged around quite a bit, especially when they blow over at 60+ so I didn't research that particular subject but I will take your word for it...

That particular hull is a bit on the heavy side and will run 108 on GPS in the cool weather and about 104 in the summer with a 260 O.S.
I also have a STV with a 2.5 Drag S.S. that is much faster but not near as purdy...

                Ok, my story so far:
Reactor 6S 50C 5000 mA - Caught fire after 50+ runs. Replace, same thing after 10 runs. Never again.
Thunder Power G6 6S 60C 5000 mA - Burst it's guts (the foil seams opened up for want of some heat shrink) after 3 runs.
Thunder Power G8 6S 75C 2700mA X 2 in series (Gone to 12S folks, double the volts = half the current). 1 pack has already dropped a cell/balance circuit after only one run.
I'm hoping I merely got a bad battery, else it's time to switch.
Price? They ain't the cheapest by a long shot.
NOTE: Why oh why can't Thunder Power simply use standard JST balancer connectors like everyone else instead of their own stupid 4+6 arrangement???
I grow weary of making adapters.
How to make a small fortune.... Start with a large one and get into FE boats!

TP has dropped the ball on the chemistry of their packs in the past year or two..

I must agree with Brushless here.
I've had to repair & reconfigure quite a few TP packs lately for fellow club members. All of the newer generation packs. All the same problems. Cells either just failed or completely blown open.
                    A bit sad really.

Wait a minute....did I read correctly??? Does a "Name Brand" manufacturer have faulty packs/cells in their product??? Maybe they need to tighten up on there cell manufacturer's quality control.

And here I thought it was only Hobby King that was accused of having issues......

Someone needs to post pics of those "Name Brand" cells that have blown up..we keep seeing the same Turnigy Nano Tech pics over and over..lets see something new for once.

I've only taken a pic of one.
Three perfect cells & one blown. Only 2 laps into a run. No fire, & the other cells weren't even warm. Go figure.

                            Luckily, Brushless, it wasn't mine.
It belonged to a fellow club member. He cut the plugs off of it & was going to throw it. But I convinced him to let me convert it into a 3s or 2s pack, which ever was most usefull to him. I think I made it into a 2s pack & gave him the spare cell for future use if another pack lost a cell.
I've doctored more than a few lipos, from Turnigy, Zippys, Nanotech, Thunderpower. With TP being more prevalent lately.
I will say this though. There are a lot of Hyperion packs in the club, owned by the same guys & run in the same boats, & I haven't seen any problems with any of them.
                            Cheers.
                            Paul.

                              @785boats,
Please enlighten me, the photo shows the top cell gone bad, is this the actual physical size of the blown cell? I know you said that there was no fire, but the expansion would rip the hull apart, am I right? Is this blown cell puffy and soft or solid but just deformed?
Just curious, sorry for the questions!
                              Thanks

                                Hi there tlandauer.

Yep. That's the actual size of the blown cell. All it did was rip the velcro hold down straps apart. The cell was soft & as you can see the foil bag was split & you can see all the edges of the laminations inside the cell.
No other damage to the boat. No fire & no excessive heat. We were in the same race together at the time. The boat just lost speed & so he pulled it into the center of the course while the race continued. It wasn't until the rescue boat brought the boat in that we saw what had happened.

Baffled the hell out of us.

                                Cheers.
