SV27 W/Ouboard

I am doing it. She is almost done. I placed the ESC under the radio box to lower the CG, the batteries will most likely need to be under the front deck. Moved the radio box forward, it wont be waterproof, I needed it to hold the servo. I left the trim tabs and turn fin on for now, I wasnt sure if they should come off or not. Should be finished tomarrow, i still need to run wires threw the top of the hull and make it waterproof somehow, but I may not be able to try it out I nearly blew the shaft in the outboard today.

A better look at some of the details. The water lines and ESC are all set. I kinda like where it is. I left the wood incase the project is a flop I can go back to regular, a few extra holes but the boat will be fine. I siliconed all the hardware so hopefully that wont leak. The motor feed is in, not as clean as I would like but it should be waterproof. New antena installed. Just about done. I may try with the busted flex drive... Its not totaly busted but close. here are a few pics

Try to get ALL of the weight inside as FAR down into the keel of the boat as possible... Should help it handle better...

I would have it on the water today but I somehow busted the flex in the outboard but it may be ok to use. I would hate to wreck the lower end if it really busts. I think my first run is gonna be with Nimh untill I feel good about the waterproofing then I go to Lipos. I also filed doen the Outboard a little so can now fit a M445 size prop. If this works on the SV I need a bracket from the captian if he would sell me just the mount, then to swap the outboard would be 4 screws. thats if this thing works.. it looks cool... hehe

Interesting project. Its just to bad those lower legs look so horrible. Does anyone make a lower leg that looks somewhat scale?

Also the re-distributed wieght of the motor being so high should make the Super Flip nickname even more meaningful.

I got it on the water. Only got about 6 or 7 laps in before the flex shaft broke. My first impression... it ran good. I have the motor set very low and trimmed down for the first run. I took 3 slow laps just to feel it out. It definatly ran OK, needs more steering but a quick move on the the horn should help. Then I steped it up a lap but not full throtal just about half and she still did her thing, looked good knowing she was trimmed down and low. I nailed thotrotal and got about a 20 feet in and the flex shaft busted. Thats it till I get a new flex. She was bone dry, so next test run the Lipo's go in.

On the REK lower end the nut near the prop.. does it come off and is it regular thread or is there any tricks to getting it off. The broken flex shaft is in the lower end.

I too the cheapest 3/8" wrench I could find (I think that's the right size... I'll have to look when I get home) and I ground it down until it was thin enough to fit into the flats...

Threads are reversed, so it's "righty-loosy, lefty-tighty" on that one....

Don't overtighten it... and make sure your flex isn't too long... it should float slightly at both ends...

Ice, a question why did you attempt this? As Doby mentions the lower leg looks way out of scale. The power point (prop) is way back of the transom..does this offer an advantage? Just very currious

Why do I do anything...Just felt like it. The actual placement is a bit further back from the stock running gear but it should not matter anyway. I had the outboard for the TS2 and thought it would be fun to see a V bottom with a outboard. I could move it closer if I felt like it but on my real bass boat you pay big bucks for a hydrolic jack plate to have the motor as far back and high as you can with hydrolic lifts, not tilt but lift to make the boat even faster so I measured a few things on my real boat and just did it.

Fullers... extreamly fast shipping. Got the flex shaft today. I still had to grind it down some.

Ran the SV w/ the outboard today....All I have to say is FAST real fast. There is so much adjustment. I only messed with the trim but I still have to play with motor height and also the trim tabs. The boat is radical, I would say it is much faster then a stock SV but right now I cant control it, can only stay in the throtal for a few second and she wants to fly away. The boat can run on the prop only the entire boat compleatly out of the water. I tucked the motor way under and tightened it up but thats not a fun way to run it. I will have fun tuning this thing. I am sure there will be some stock SV hardware available on swap soon.

where in the prop shaft in reference to the keel of the boat?

My exact thought. I didnt feel like doing it on the dock because I have to reposition the bolts to the upper holes, thats why I just messed with the trim. I will prob test it more tomarrow even though its gonna be cold. Thanks Avanti

Seeing how this reacted to the motor way down I think I need to get the motor down further on the TS2

I've did the outboard thing with my Sv also, I ran it with a feigao 9l and a 637 prop on 5s and the thing just launched like a bat out of hell, then chimed and went under, the best i got it to run was at 38mph with a BJ motor and 5s. Do you have much adjustment on that outboard and mount. It looks more like a real motor. If it is fun, that is all that matters.
