where did you guys source the hardware and what was the cost?

Got mine from R2 Hobbies in Hong Kong as well.

Strut $7.63
Turn Fin $4.24
Rudder $11.01

Shipping cost was very reasonable and it all arrived within 2 weeks from date of order.

I'll definately be using them again.

Does anyone know what the thread size for the mounting holes is on the Mystery motors? I need to get longer screws to mount it to the cooling plate I'm making.

just started the other night, and keep glueing my fingers to the damn thing. I had to cut some of the balsa out last night to get free!!!

It's coming together slowly but kids activities will slow it down over this weekend

(fondly remembering epoxying my fingers together and wondering how I was going to type with fused fingers...then I remembered and went to the kitchen to grab a serrated knife) LOL! J/K for all you kids out there!

(the knife was to open a package of solvent), although I have been guilty of using everything to get it off...that and super glue.

Most hobby poxy can be de-bonded with heat. If you are trying to pull out a stuffing tube or something similar, you can heat the tube carefully w/ a torch (butane or propane) and it should pull right out.

I doubt he was gluing his fingers to the parts with epoxy. If he did, my guess is he moves REALLY slowly.

I used brass for the strut with led teflon bearings, an octura rudder I had kicking around, 098 flex shaft. The strut bracket is from 1/2" angled aluminum. I posted some pictures in a different thread if you want to take a look.

Sorry about the poor picture quality, but here's a quick update on progress. Started sheeting the sponsons.

Next will be a coat of polyurethane varnish to seal the inside before sheeting the top of the sponsons. Are the sponsons left hollow or should they be filled with anything?

I've started looking at radi equipment for my creation (yes I know I'm all over the place with this build) and am looking for some info.

I realise the servo for the rudder will have to be fairy small but is there a recommended minimum torque requirement?

Also I was considering this Spektrum equipment

and was wondering if anyone had any info on the dimensions of the receiver and servos that came with it?

Are there any other radios that you'd recommend?
