Carbon Fiber shocker build

Got started on the shocker last night. I buffed the hull out. Taped it up and sanded the inside getting ready for my inlay. Gotta stop by the store tonight for some supplies so I couldn't do the inlay last night. Here's my plans for it. I'm welcome to prop suggestions.

-neu 1527 1250kv motor to be run on 8s
-billet motor mount
-fightercat 101 esc
-x450 prop (I think that's what I have)
-savox waterproof servo
-two part kintec foam for floatation
-3/16 flex
-spectrum dx4s radio

Right on. It's going to be on 6s at first because I don't have a matching pair if 4s batts. Spc is out of the lipo I need so I gotta wait. I could run it on 7s tho. Might do that.

You don't think so? I thought these esc's were pretty heavy duty. It sure looks heavy duty. What esc woukd you recommend? I've read the 101 was rated for 100 amps (I find that hard to believe by looking at the way it's built) but I've also read they are good up to 300 amp (easier to believe by looking at it). So what do think?

That's awesome! At this point (no motor mount or cooling jacket) all I can do is drool over it lol.

Because someone stated above my esc might not hold up I did a little searching. According to the neu website my motor is rated at 4500w surge and 2250w nominal. So that translates to this:

8s
Normal 66.96a
Surge 133.93a

6s
Normal 89.29a
Surge 178.57a

What am I missing? I know these numbers aren't concrete, but still if within the ball park it should be fine, yes?

The load on the motor determines current draw, the motor by itself draws very little. What the motor is rated at has nothing to do with the amount of current being used.

I'm thinking you'll probably be ok with the Fightercat ESC as long as you don't over prop it or beat on it severely. Just keep a close eye on temps in the begining and it would be nice if you had some kind of data logging system..

ThAt motor, on 8s with any decent sized prop, will spike well over 200 amps

I've run two FC ESC's one 300a 16s and one 300a 6s and both have been totally fine, just don't push it to the limit or get water on it

We're not disputing a 300 amp esc.. The esc may be great, but maybe not well suited for his intentions.
