    DF Sniper 45

Well I don't post many of my builds, (not a big fan of typing) but I do have a few questions and maybe a few answers. Going with all new stuff (Xmas). Gonna try a CC 2028, SF 240A ESC on Gens Ace 5300 30c - 9 or 10s.

I laid the components out in the boat to get an idea of where my 30% CG is going to be...had to include a picture of my helper too.

So this hull is 45" long or it is classed for 45 size engine? I have a DF 45 that is 35.4" and this hull looks quite roomy in there.I can only get 3s batteries along the outside of the rails in mine.

Yep, it's 45" DF I got from our friendly host here on OSE. and it does have lots and lots of room. I'm wondering if I should put CF in the boat in between the rails. I'm kinda thinking no because it has everything supported off the rails not the bottom of the hull... eh I'll probably do it anyway.

If you are going all out in saws runs maybe but just farting around the 60mph mark the boat is plenty tough . If you have the ambition a little extra strength never hurts but don't feel guilty if you didn't .

FWIW I don't have any cf in the bottom of my Promise Hobby 47" mono but after that rollover and 6' leap out of the water last time out I'm starting to consider it. I've already added a layer to the hatch since it flexed it enough to crack the gelcoat on it.

Yep, after sleeping on it, (and watching Bills boat flip 6' in the air a few weeks ago) I'm at least gonna CF in between the rails and the lid. I'm also building a bulkhead under the front hatch area, using the rails as support.

well I think what they are referring to is a nitro .45 boat. Nitro boats are classified this way .21 or 2.5cc, .45 or 7.5cc, .60 or 11cc, .90 and so on. well I managed to get the lid windsreen and rails painted. I hope to have the CF in later.

Painting the rails is a good idea.Mmm.The rails do need some sealing.

Well the CF is in and dried. Now comes the decision part ... weather or not to make a water cooled stuffing box. These shafts and tubes in these larger boats get blazin hot. It could possibly be height adjustable also. My speedmaster stinger has vertical slots approx 10mm. long.
                          100_8073.jpg

I was considering a 3/4" aluminum tube for the housing, that would allow 5mm +/- up or down.

I use stainless steel tubing in all my builds for the stuffing tube - right now my smallest boat is the 45" Sniper

I was thinking of an aluminum flood tube with the drive tubing inside. Stainless is a great idea, and can certainly take alot more heat than brass tubing. But now if your using SS you don't need a water cooled drive because it can take the temps. That being said I might just go with a solid SS drive on the boat. I'll go with the shaft center at 13mm off the bottom apex of the ride pad.
