Umm I dont know why it double posted..

Mine sometimes does that. Normally happens when you click post and nothing happens so you click it again or when your pc send the same command twice.
Got no worries about velcro. I buy Industrial strength stuff and it doesn't like to come off.
In parallel my previous set-up was great once I lowered the stinger, really stable but no good for running single packs. So all this extra work is practically for running singles. (Most importantly that Hyperion!!)

Motor stuffing tube and flex cable are in. The motor is slightly on a harsh angle but it can be made less once I have a good quality hex key!

2: Battery Stand

Hi drax21, imo teflon robs you of rpm with these size motors. I use quik silver marine grease (has teflon in it) with grim grease and I'm good for three heats, with bigger motors I've seen teflon tubes get all gummed up and twisted in the stringer and stuffing tube then it turns to hard plastic what a mess. When installing your stuffing tube use the next size up of brass tubing as a sleeve at your supports and at the transome that way you can pull the stuffing tube and replace with ease even on race day. I have been running my DF snipper for years with little or no wear with 3080/7T 10s 2p 5000mah. The outside trim tabs really help when setting up for the turns with a little down force you can dig in and hold your lane threw the corners, the inside trims can really help with ride and chine walk. The shorter the stuffing tube the less friction/lower amp draw/ more pwer to the prop. Hope this helps, Jay.

Thanks for letting me know Jay. I noticed when pulling my old teflon tube out it had gone hard and brittle. Hardly used the boat and always had plenty of grease in there. So a 5mm ID brass tube would be better on the outside. I was thinking about using my M645 before as my motor was pretty cool. (Why I put it at the back) But I guess with all that length now I best stay with the M445. Maybe M545 if I'm lucky.
My new teflon lining seems wider as my flex cable is slipping out with ease. Only trouble it's having is going in and out of that collett. Once I flattened the motor out I can adjust the stuffing tube accordingly and it should slide in and out. Want the ESC to sit flat across on top of the motor mount. Thanks Tim

Hi Tim, try the 645 for two laps and check your temps, 4s should be fine 5&6s things will definately warm up . Have fun, everything up here in the great white north has turned to a cube!!! except the big lake , but the water is hard , gotta wait for spring, I'm band from testing in the bath tub.......... Jay

We in the UK have had a mild winter. I have even popped out the lake just to try this boat out. The first freeze of the winter has come tonight and its getting colder. I think 4s will be max for me. I have been spending a lot of money on LIPOs this year. My boats are always in the bath to see where the CG is at.

So I ended up going to B&Q to get a Chrome Vanadium Steel Hardened set of Hex Keys. Wow they are better. Made undoing the loctited hex screws easy. Changed the angle on the motor and now the flex is slipping in and out of the collet with ease, practically straight. Normally I use the standard epoxy off ebay. Very strong and goes off very quick. But this time I spotted some 181 epoxy adhesive down the local shops. Very sticky stuff and smelly too. Dries nice and clear though. The motor and all the supports and stuffing tube have all been epoxied in.

I have got some Plexi-glass arriving tues for the battery stand and esc mount. I'm going to make 2 places where the esc can sit. Either over the motor when running batts in parallel or actually on the battery pad when running singles. I also should have some screws and washers arriving for my stinger (the washers are very hard to get a hold of!!!)
Have just bought 2 new Turnigy 4s 5000mah 35-45c batteries off a seller in the UK, hope they arrive ok!

Hyperion Battery

OK so I plan on going out with my boat either late tomorrow or weds so I balance charged the New Hyperion. I remember the cells being out originally, probably because it hadn't been used and just stored for 2 months. The cells ended on 4.20 4.19 4.18 4.19

I know this is only slightly out but in the long run the slightly out can make a big difference. My Winmax battery has been used 4 times and it balanced at 4.19 4.20 4.19 4.20 this time.

I have heard I may be able to get them to balance better if I discharge and balance charge again(both with the charger) or will the battery always be off balance?

I am using a Turnigy ECO8 Charger 150W 2-8s with a power supply giving 16V ( Do I need a better charger (300W?)

nice build, i have a concern about the battery tray i know the extreme velcro is good stuff but at a 50mph crash those batteries become very heavy and an instant stop could break them loose, as extra insurance use the velcro strap around the battery tray as well

Why you got to scare me with words like ..crash , I know what your saying. At the moment I'm just gonna be sport boating as the rules for racing are getting stupid. So hopefully no crashes in store. I have a few velcro loops could stick around the battery/ies.

So the hard work is complete. I just got to shorten a few wires then I am good to go! I am quite pleased.

IMO I would definitly put some Velcro ties around lipos even just for sport running I have seen them rip off Velcro by it self and split hulls and rip hatches that were locked down pretty well it is not worth a good set of lipos just for not adding a simple strap Just so u know I did some tests with Teflon and without and I found out that if the Teflon is installed correctly with proper lube and proper stuffing tube angel it does not rob any rpm/mph or power and in some cases increasing efficiency.Thanks chris

Thanks for the Info Chris. I have 2 velcro straps here. I can wrap them around the batteries then stick them down or do you mean through the wood of the battery mount and over the battteries?

I did give the motor a quick spin and it sounded more powerful this time even though the cable is quite a bit longer.
The only angle I have is coming out of the transom and onto the first stuffing tube mount then its dead straight from there. The cable slides in and out with ease.

Here are the batteries with reversable hook and loop sided velcro around and then stuck to the velcro pad.
