Looks like cool but no rain, winds from the SE 15 so we should have good water for testing out a new tunnel.
Band is playing again tomorrow night, won't be anywhere near as late a night at last week. Also no private green room for the musicians.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

He had it out last weekend, Going to be a fast boat once it's dialed in.
Ken cut the day short, he has/had a chest cold or the plague. Going out again today, John may be able to bring the video cam.

            Hi Siberian ,

Sorry to hear about Ken , hope he feels better soon , got a bit of a cold myself at the moment . Keep up the team effort in getting Kens weapon .45 launched in the near future . With mine i have made progress in attaching new O/B leg , which i'll post pictures of soonish in my thread & is looking quite awesome ( IMHO ) . Will be buying this Turnigy 56-74-1050 following advice from a forum member who has vast experience in racing O/B in the U.S & is a member of this forum & i thank him for his advice ....

Ya i did a couple short runs. It looks promising but my steering was way too fast so i'm working on that. The hatch is done just needs to be prepped and painted. Will give it another try today and maybe have some vids to post.

Holy Cow that motor is huge for a tunnel. I dont know how you'll ever get the cog right. I use the 4074 version of that motor and it was tricky getting it to balance. I use a 6s pack which is pretty beefy and i still had to cut the front of the battery comartment out so i could slide the batt farther forward.

                    Hi Ken ,

It seems i may have got my wires crossed with the Guy i communicate with or something , he is a reputable guy & knows of my current project so his suugestion must be do-able - though i do hear your point . At the moment i have a Keda 40-74-1340 that i bought Steve ( OSE.COM ) sitting attached my " Speed-Drive lower leg " on back of transom . Hope i don't have to reconfigure the front of boat due to " COG " issues as i have the model driver to consider & have also made a front clip where cowl attaches to bottom in that area . With the weight of the considered BL Motor sitting on the back & the weight of a 6s battery up front wouldn't it be fairly well balanced , power should be through the roof for the .45 hulll , so may need a bit of Neg drive adjustment ?? .BG

                    I'm Intrigued ( LOL )

The keda would be a far better choice IMO. It will have plenty of power for this hull. And you will def need to do some head scratching to get the cog right. I'm not quite sure why anyone would recommend a 5674 for a tunnel, and without knowing the whole conversation i would hate to say he's wrong, but having just gone through it i cant see how you could have a prayer of getting it to balance with that huge motor on the back unless you add a ton of weight up front.I know on some hulls extra weight can help to keep it stable but tunnels tend to dig in the turns and adding weight to the front as far as i could see would only worsen the problem.Having said that i'm far from an expert and if you trust this persons advice then the only way to know for sure is to try it.What lower unit are you using. Is it the one in your gallery photos that is made in asia??. They use a .150 shaft if i recall which is iffy for the keda, and dont even think of using that 5674 on it unless you have a huge budget for replacement shafts...

From what i have read of O/B Tunnels on this site , i understand their ride characteristics to a degree without running them first hand . With the Guy that i co - respond with , he is a reputable guy who races O/B Tunnels in California & given my communicae with him i don't understand what may have gone wrong . The Speed Drive that i have , originates , & is raced in Bang Kok Thailand in a class for our specific size hull running 6S power & BL Motor size can of over 60mm according to the manufacturer . If the .150 flex does not hold up to power output i will replace with .180 as the I.D of shaft is quite large & would be able to carry a larger cable .

Hopefully i don't have to many dramas , when it comes to time race it , no much fun sitting idle with concerns that should have been addressed before that stage ....

Those units are sweet. I nearly bought one but it was the small shaft size that discouraged me. If you can go up in size it would be awesome. Have you read the thread on IW about the electric tunnels. They are using mostly scorpion motors on theirs and if i recall it was mentioned that larger motors were attempted and made the boats totally un drivable.

The Guy's name is Narade & can be found @ rcuniverse.com with the profile name of " Zapco " ( ?? ) , that supplies a number of variations & sizes with his drives , including Carbon Fibre . In fact i'll tell you of these units structural integrity , about a year ago , my wife opened our back door which is in front of where our 6ft fridge is . Upon opening the door she pushed the other O/B Tunnel i have off the display mantle i have for it & the boat fell down backyards & the " Speed - Drive " took the brunt of the 3kg + force of falling from that height without total disrepair & kept shaft true , though the X642 i had on it is bent to the S- House . Am a member of IW so i may check out the thread you are talking about a bit closer .....

Thanks for the advice Ken , given the fact we have the same taste in Tunnels ( LOL ) i am interested in your thread - though i'll leave it alone for a while hey , i'm taking up to much space with dilusion ( LOL )

I'm surprised you dont see more of those units running. They look great. I really hope we can shoot some vids of my tunnel today. I'm bummed that my hatch didnt get done in time. But i didnt want to rush the paint at this point cause i've already scrapped two other hatches. My progress this week was slow because i was working on it while I was sick and I was sick of working on it...lol Not a good combination ....

Well had my first blowover today. It took out my esc. Guess i'll have to go over my waterproofing and make sure its sealed before i plunk another one in it.Going to be a learning curve to set it up but so far it looks very promising. Its definately sensative to prop choice. Changing the prop made a huge change in the ride of the hull and eventualy led to the blowover. So far though it doesnt seem to be hooking in the turns or spinning out so once I get the ride attitude sorted out it should be a winner.
