Pretty crafty there on that ESC location Bill. Do you need mount plates made? If so we can chop some up tomorrow.

Hadn't really thought about putting plates under them but guess we can look at it later on today. Looking pretty gloomy here right now so today may just turn into a social call.Originally posted by tiqueman View PostPretty crafty there on that ESC location Bill. Do you need mount plates made? I plan on running at least 3 sets of packs, maybe more. If I don't run the 950 ill get two runs outta the mini sniper. This is if I stop charging packs in the next 15 min or so. Ill probably do another 4s set. For some reason I'm really psyched to run some monos?? What's gottn into me?

Wouldn't ya know it.... I used up the last of my silver bearing solder putting bullets on the esc's and of course Radio Shack is out. (couldn't find any at Lowes either).
I decided to put a couple of bases in for the esc's to sit on. Had some thin CF plate here at the house and it gave me a chance to try out some of those new metal cutting scroll saw blades. They worked pretty well for the 3 cuts I had to make.
I have both esc's in it now and plumbing all ran except for the exit lines. Still need to take about 4" off the motor wires but hate to use the 60/40 solder for putting bullets back on them. Guess I'll have to do a Tower order unless I can find some locally tomorrow.Attached Files

Thanks Chris I may be taking you up on that if I have to order any. Going to hit Jacksons and the RS in the mall on my way home tomorrow. I'll order some if I strike out both places but probably wouldn't get it beofre the weekend if I ordered it.Originally posted by osprey21 View PostI have a partial roll of the RS solder left - you're welcome to it - LMK.
10/4 on that Scott. If I find it locally will go ahead and grab you a roll too.Originally posted by tiqueman View PostBill if you order some grab me one too and ill split shipping with you. I ran out two days ago.
Started playing with battery location a little while ago and after us thinking it would come out nose heavy, may have built it a touch tail heavy.
With a pair of 4s packs (photo 1) in the sponsons just ahead of the motors it balamces at 9.5" from the bottom rear of the sponsons. 29% I think?
With a pair of 6s packs (2nd shot) it only moves it to 10" or 31% ?Attached Files

The Radio Shack at the mall still had 2 spools of the silver bearing solder so I grabbed both of those on my way home. Went ahead and stashed one of them in the van for you Scott. That way I'll have it next time we get together.
Got the motor wires shortened up and cut a recess for the rx pack in the front floatation. With it in slid back into place it gets me to 10.5" on the 4s packs.
Doubt I'll get anything else done tonight. The cat woke my up about 4:30 this morning and I plan to turn in pretty soon after watching Terra Nova.Attached Files

Thanks Jeff. Hopefully some of my "redneck injuneering" ideas will be helpful to some of the others building one of these.

Thaks JP. I woudn't swear to the work being "nice" but most of the time it works out pretty well for being functional. As long as it passes the 50-50 test that's what's important.
The 50-50 test is at 50 feet and 50+ mph nobody will notice the difference.
