Jim, pm me for more info on the cowl, as my father and I have the molds and made Jeff's cowling as well, it comes out of the mold as you see it it is made of fiberglass and comes out of the mold with primer already applied so you can run it as you get it from us and/or apply paint when you feel the need!! we also have fiberglass Karelsen hulls that come out of the mold pre-primered as well, and all rolls Merlin dummy engine parts in 1/Th and 1/Th scale, too!!

      What he said....
They make some great parts and have saved a lot of work on time on my build.
They are a great addition to the project and take little to no prep to be ready to install on the boat.

          Been doing lots of sanding.
          Boat is ready for primer!
Problem is it's been raining past few days.
Hoping the weekend looks good at moment hoping it stays that way.
I just need to finish connecting the cowl and hatch cover.

Finally a break in the funky weather and have some time to work on the boat!

I epoxied the cowl to the hatch first then I cut out the hatch cover underneath it so I could apply some fiberglass to the inner seam to make sure it in nice and strong.
I used some tape to make sure the epoxy stayed where I wanted it to.
Saves a lot of time from having to sand down the runs if there is any.

I will post more pics a little bit later with the fin applied to the cowl.

First few coats of primer have been applied!!
I am using Dupli-Color high build primer.

I will wait a few hours for it to dry then do some light sanding and apply another few coats.

Thanks Mart as you know it is a labor of love and takes a lot of time and patience to get things to look as good as you want them to.
                  It is coming along nicely.
After priming it you can see all the imperfections that you did not notice.
I have a little bit of filling and smoothing that is going to need to be done.
I will post more pics up soon.

Here is a few more pics of progress after I smoothed out the curve on the deck with some bondo.
Also the hatch first coats of primer.
I have since filled in a few imperfections and everything is ready for final coats of primer!!

Thanks Austin I'll be posting up some pics a little bit later today.
I have the motor all painted and assembled and I'm hoping to put final coats of primer on also.

                          Updates!!!
Here are some pictures of the dummy motor finished painting and gluing it together.
I used a combination of toothpicks and silicone along with some epoxy and CA glue.

Here are some photos of the strut mounted and the start of cutting out the space for the stuffing tube.
I figured out where it needed to be cut by measuring the motor distance to strut and then taking into account for the width of the stuffing tube and angle which gave me the exact spots to cut out so it would fit in there nice and snug. measure twice cut once!!!

After that I painted the cowl/hatch cover the base color white.

Then I cut out the space needed to clear the motor in the hatch/cowl.
I probably should have done this before painting the base color but it worked out fine and managed not to scratch up the paint while cutting.
after that I painted the area where the dummy motor goes black and you can see I placed it on there for now and will be gluing it in place with some silicone after I take out some of the foam for clearance.
I also drilled and screwed in the motor with some 4/40 button head screws and large washers, to keep the mount in place while I did this I used some 3M double sided tape.
