You really need to use proper laminating resin on carbon or glass cloth somethng like West 105 resin with 206 hardener or Z Poxy wing skinning resin & not Epoxy glue. Martin.

thanks mate, I have the Z poxy so I'll use that, do you have an opinion on which layout I should use?

I've rubbed the carbon fiber back with 80g paper and then layed a light sheet of fiberglass in the area I'll place the motor and esc mount, I figure that I had no trouble with the df35, infact I tried very hard to remove the motor mount and couldn't, I'm hoping that this will help stick better. I've decided to stay with my first layout as I can still velcro the lipo's up the side if need be and from the test run, I don't think I need the cog moved back a hole lot.

That layout will work too, I have done and seen many layouts that work . Really its preferance and appearance .... cg is most important and hardware setup... I use '' super epoxie '' and it works great on the polyester carbon that aeromarine uses and it doesn't run....I only need to clean the surface with rubbing alcohal ....I don't hold any records or claim to build the best setups , only what has worked for me...I have never used any fancy resins , only simple epoxies I can buy at my local hardware store and hands down ''super epoxie '' is great !...I will use it for all tuff aplication that need big holding strength !...its not easey on the eyes , its white..

After seeing Dana's sub hatch, I decided to get busy and try one myself (thanks mate). I still need to change the motor/esc connectors to 8mm instead of the ec5 bullets to make the wires a fraction shorter so they'll sit a little lower but here's a few pic's. I thought I'd try without the inside rim, I'll have to see how it goes, the hatch is a bit tight due to the tape but it fits. I used a pop rivit comming through the front of the deck and into the hatch, hopefully this will keep water out.

Looks good man. To make waterproof hatch pins, glue a block of styrofoam behind the hole in boat. Then the pin seats in the styrofoam and no water gets in the boat

Ihave a Titan 29 and it is a great boat for my sub hatch I glued some thin balsa around the opening for the lexan to sit on which leaves more surface for the tape to adhear and so far no water and that was about 4 years ago

I ran a m445 yesterday and the motor to esc wires got too hot and caused me issues again, this happened last time I ran the boat with a x445. I'm using ec5's, other temps are ok, motor-esc-batteries, will going up to 8mm connectors be the best solution?? other wise, the boats running well, between 45-50mph and quite stable, I love it.

you know what ive found from screwing with props on this boat? its doesnt really like m props. as far as what i feel.... my favorite prop is grim 40/52/3, nice and smooth with almost no torque roll. my wires get pretty hot too, but maybe prop down a little.

Go to 8mm, it will help deliver the juice faster and the motor inturn will run more efficiently..

I ran this boat today for the first time after changing the motor/esc connectors to 8mm and all I can say is WOW. I set my timer for 4 minutes but realised a few seconds into driving that it was set for 5minutes and I ran it for probably 30 seconds or so after the timer went off and temps were all around the 45-50 degree celsius. The water was a little ripley due to it being windy but the boat handled real well. It had a few wobbles comming into the wind but never looked like blowing over, a nice smooth ride through out. After the run I thought it was great but a bit slow until a bystander and Ron (a mamber on here) prompted me to check the GPS, I was shocked to see 50.6mph. Finally after all the building, searching and asking questions on here I have a boat that is fun, fast and easy to drive, yeah!! no paddling And this sub hatch just tops it off for me http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...tch&highlight=
