I already was thinking something along the same lines as that. I wasn't sure how the ends were squared and if they did it there @ hyperformance. I'm gonna send an e-mail to check. Thanks!!

I have been into large gas boats for years and most use 14" flex shafts. I have squared off the ends myself on a grinder wheel. Just have to solder the ground down areas to keep it together. Might be harder on thinner shafts though.

Subject: Reverse rotation 3.5 outboard flex cable??

        Hello,
My name is Scott and I was told that I might be able to contact Dave at hyperformance to inquire about either purchasing or having a few flex cables made for the 3.5 outboard that are reverse rotation. I am building a twin outboard cat and would like to have one of the outboards counter-rotate. I already purchased a couple of your hyperformance 3.5 flex shafts and they work perfectly. I can purchase reverse rotation .150 flex cables from Offshore Electrics and cut them to length. But I need the ends to be squared. Is there any way you can help me out on this project. I know at least 4 or 5 other guys on the OSE forums that are looking for the same cables, so I f possible I might have a few extras made up to pass on. With the introduction of the new Proboat stilletto, I think the demand for these cables will increase with a lot of guys wanting to build twin outboard setups. Thank you in advance for any help you can give!!

Is that just to square it off or does it include everything?

How much did you pay for the flex shafts that you already bought from them? $6.25?

I'd better keep em lubed up good. At 25 each I can't afford to break a lot of shafts.

$25 each? That is ridiculously high. Seriously guy, get a hold of Kris Flynn from IW. I had 5 normal & 5 reverse made for about $60 total, including the buying the cable from Octura & shipping it to Kris in Australia. If a bunch of you guys went in together it will only get cheaper.

I made a post a couple months ago over on IW looking for reverse cables & a guy offered me the squaring heads for a hydraulic press. Kinda wishing would got them now!

I had to register @ the international waters website, and now I have to wait a couple of days for them to accept my registration before I can even post on the forum or get any info from the website of any kind.

Did he post pictures of this tool? If so, link us to the thread or post 'em up here. Might be worth the time to build this tool.

If you have the cable, you might be able to get a Speedometer shop to do it for you...

I just called around to some local speedo shops and they all pretty much told me the same thing. I need to bring the cable down so they can see how big it is. When I have time I'll stop by and see of they can put a square end on it. How long is the cable have to be?

Stock cables are 4 5/8 inch. Hyperformance cables are 4 3/4 inch overall. The squared part needs to not be more than 3/8 inch from each end or it will interfere with the stuffing tube. Cable diameter is .150
