forescott, what did you end up doing about the threading on the prop shaft? did you also make that reverse thread or are you counting on threadlock to hold the prop nut on and the shaft from coming loose in the leg?

i really like the look of this build and cant wait to see it go. i was always into nitro outboards and still run 2 OB tunnels.

The tricky part is gonna be figuring out the steering linkage. Probably gonna use a quarter scale servo to turn these bad boys!

Looks great! I like the tie bar on the cav plates. The tough part will be getting the CG right with all that weight out back. Get all your hardware together and float the boat and place the hardware in the hull to see where it needs to go for weight distribution. I have the ESCs in the center and all the batteries way up in the bow to level it out.

I am using a standard high torque servo for the steering, works great.

Can't wait to see the finished product.

I'm gonna try using threadlocker. I think it should hold no problem. I'm also gonna make a dual steering servo setup similar to what some of the big gas boats use with dual rudders. I figured out an easy way to do it and its gonna have plenty of torque to turn those outboards!

I am noticing the right rotation prop trying to walk off after a run. After every run I have to remove the prop nut and prop and screw the dog back to the base of the shaft and reinstall. I think I'll try the thread lock on the drive dog.

i would use 2 locking nuts on the prop (2 nuts locked together) but i dont know how the assembly into the leg will hold out. i think if you use green locktite you should be ok

Scott, Do you think there enough material on the housing to drill and tap for a set screw? This might help the whole assembly from backing out.

Another thing I have learned to do is put a tight fitting peice of silicone tubing over the threads and push it up hard against the prop nut. This really helps to keep it from coming loose.

Hey Scott How much room is left under the motor cover? is it a tight fit with the UL1 motors or could you fit something a little bigger?

This thing looks sweet! Can't wait to see your first video of it! did you ever figure how much each one weighs in at with the motor?

The motors fit fine. Its the motor wires coming out the top of the motor that get squished when the cover is put on. I have to bend them pretty hard to make the cover fit. The ul-1 motor wires are stiff and don't like to bend easy either.

Forgive me if someone asked this already. Are you gonna use the same rotation props or the ones in the picture just for ref.? Those outboards look damn fine btw. Good job bro.
