Yep my memory was right - 2.3 " below sponson.

Well Jeff, that cable is nothing short of AWESOME!! I got her in and my stuffing tube was in just the right place (I actually installed it before the cable got here - I know tisk tisk). Now all I gots to do is mount the GIANT esc to some brackets and make some battery shelves. I was thinking in the sponsons I could throw down some ply shelves that would elevate the batteries 1/2" or so incase of any water infiltration.

Question: what is lower end rpms one should run a motor? I have a pair of 5S 6600mah packs I was wanting to try for the maiden voyage, but that would be turning the motor at not even 20K.... is that too low?

I will have to measure, but for now I am guessing not more than 2.5" maybe closer to 2"

Thanks Rummy. I am looking for fast (for me).... 60's on max battery (8S2P?) otherwise just comfortably quick for tooling around (probably 6S2P). Until, that is, I move to a place with a club.... possibly H-town.

I'm thinking you'll end up with the strut around 1/2" above the sponsons. How fast are you aiming to push her Jesse?

Safe is 35% CG and then move back if you can. As far as prop depth. I like to have 75% of one blade in the water. I try not to have the entire blade in to lower the amp draw. Depends also if the prop has been detonged, etc.

Heck, you know what you are doing! Get it out there and let her eat a couple laps and bring it in. No video...it didn't happen :)

Thanks Jeff. As far as I have been told, this is the motor to have for this big guy. Rave reviews, both from boaters and from heli guys alike. Way too cheep!!! I would have bought one for $50 from you if you were selling them.

Knowing the flex is on its way, I got the stuffing tube installed and the 2-ton Epoxy is curing at the moment.

Question 1: Where are most people finding the COG works best? I wonder if it is a function also of total weight and target speeds.

Question 2: Also, where is best height for the strut? I am allowing for flush to 1/2" above sponson base.

Do you not need a bigger motor? How are the t600 motors? I am about to move that direction because they are so cheap.

Here are some pics of hull with beginnings of hardware. Gonna start out with single inboard mega outrunner.....

but ultimate goal is a little different. haven't seen it anywhere on here nor even the Tube. Will update when I have a nice photo display to illustrate my madness.....

My buddy who works in auto body repair came over last night and helped me fix the ding on the left soponson tip - good as new. then epoxied the split seam and gonna prime her up today. Jeff has my 1/4" flex on the way, so I should have her wet soon.

I thought it was funny, dog being worried about a little kitty that is actually bigger than she is!

the big kitty was getting nervous sitting on this couch... most boats that sit here for photos end up in boxes and never come back.... kinda like a little piggy sittin in the slaughter house...

So you have 2-880`s on a mono,do you have a built thread here? and who did you get this big mono hull from? expresscraft? what model?

Here is my build thread! It is a home made fiberglass hull i got off ebay when i was like 14 but ran out of money to build a gasser. It is built like a brick sh*t house! It is prolly twice as thick as my old prather fun cruiser and bonzi.

I had almost everything except the motor because i couldn't afford the Zenoah i wanted a long time ago so i used all of the hardwear from the gassers up to the motors so i tried to make a cheep electric alternative.

So far that T600 has been pretty sweet for me! I am building two boats with two of them each. I have had the 880s on 6s in one run and everything was really cool with the 100hv not being water cooled. I am going to try it out on 8s this weekend and i'll let you know how it goes if the esc handles it!

Next summer i am going to try out how they would do with two inlind since you can replace the shafts in a cat this size.

Here is a small vid of the boat with two 880s, so i think you could prolly go a lot faster in a cat with one of them. This run was to make sure the gearbox worked so it is on the slow side.

Jesse i`ll be watching your built thread as i want to build me a big boat during winter.I`m looking at hulls between 40-48" and seems everything you ll be doing to yours will fit mine.Like you i wanna keep it simple,cheap,efficient and not planning on breaking any speed records.....so keep us posted....Al
