Yes was out to dinner but just took a good look and water did get in hull. It was that boot for the linkage rod Chris. I had a hard time getting it on the fitting. The inside of transom on these Popeyes is not very accessible. It looks like that's where all the water came in. Didn't notice it earlier because pool noodles absorbed a lot of it. Everything else seems fine. No damage to the hull. As soon as I got it back in I saw smoke coming from cowling and as soon as I opened cowling it burst into flames. ESC was up on mount and even it is fine. hate I have to wait to run it again till a new ESC gets here.

I am glad no collateral damage! I know it sucks, but count yourself lucky: I have been there myself with the luck you had, so I felt fortunate as well.
Ron is right, for the money, you can't go wrong with the Seaking 180 ESC.
You did a great job and you should be congratulated!

Well now the carpet matches the drapes.

Any damage to the paint ?

                Get a T180 or Sk180.

Nope looked everything over good and looks like only damage was the ESC itself. I had just bought the Swordfish programming box for $20 so I think I may go with the Swordfish Pro 220 its just $109.99 in OSE store. Still online looking for one now.

The carpet looks clean to me!
Funny how water can easily damage ESC if it is not protected, some people simply spray Corrosion X into their ESC. I am sure whatever desision you make will be fine.
I don't know if you had done that already but I wrap a 4" cable tie around the rudder linkage boot. I also double check all the thru hull holes are sealed up properly, i.e. where the strut attaches the transom, same goes for the rudder bracket.
                    Just a thought.

Yea that was an expensive mistake I wont make again......
I dried the hull out and sprayed everything good with Corrosion X

I only ran it about 2 mins and never past half-throttle was first run on new motor and boat and was just testing it. It did not get much water in the hull but when I reached down to pick it up all the water ran to front of boat I think. Anyways lesson learned and just going to buy a new ESC today. Thx Jeff

There's part of the problem....1/2 throttle +2 minutes = heat...and running for 2 minutes without bringing it in for a temp check is another part of the problem.
