Mac, Nice job you did on it.
The boat looks like a winner and the spoiler makes it move just sitting still,
I think the T600 will be a nice runner in that boat and sound cool to.

Hey Mac! Just make sure you have a s/b/p prop to go with that ride!My Aquacraft SV27's old Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoTm4Btz41Q

We havent molded the spoiler yet, so we have to do the maiden without it. I've set the CG without it, so I'll see if it can be added to my own cig boat in the future.
2 things thou - the angle of the spoiler wing will either push the back end down or lift it up, thus is may have an affect in its running attitude. Second, the spoiler is just like a big "grab me" handle that our retrievers might grab when pulling our boats out the water. I could see a couple of problems if they constantly grab it.
I'll make the spoiler as an additional option - drivers and spoiler wing so far are the available options for this cig boat as of the moment.

Has to be going over 35mph to have an effect on handling.Just the old Camaro roadracer in me there.Originally posted by macdon View PostThanks Lenny!

Is 35mph to have a effect on handling,
The boat speed or the wind speed at the spoiler ?
I think I need to test my 36" shockwave with out the spoiler and see what happens on handling.

Let me answer your question with some visual aides. I took your question like its me asking the same question to somebody else, so bear with how I would approach this.Originally posted by srislash View PostSo Mac,can I fit a 1717 with cooling can in the sponson of a R-42?Can is 60mm X 90mm and I would need a little tilt room as well. Thanks.
Our pool noodles that we use for floatation is exactly 60mm in diameter. The pic below that shows me holding a yellow pool noodle is next to the sponson. There's also a pic of the sponson next to a ruler.
I basically fitted 2 pool noodles inside each sponson - but its not easy as it may sound. While they are side by side, one noodle is positioned lower than the other where part of the upper noodle is resting on the floor of the tunnel. You still with me so far?
Okay, next will be the height - if you look at the side profile of any R-42, its not a straight & level. The R-42 is higher in the middle and goes down in the front & the back. Its like the top deck profile is like a bow.
The highest part of the middle area is about 2-3/4" or 70mm from floor of tunnel - so your 1717 will fit - but you must tell Andy NOT to install the wooden railings!
Since you'll be using this for electric anyway, tell him not to install the wooden side railings. With the railings there, your 1717 wont fit.
Once in there, you can tilt it a bit (not much) - just so your stuffing tube can go down to the bottom edge of the sponson.
You can see more nude pics of the R-42 in my photo album here in OSE if you think it might help more.

I would be interested in knowing the outcome of your experiment :)Originally posted by lenny View PostIs 35mph to have a effect on handling,

Thanks Mac,so it should be able to go.I don't need too much tilt.I am figuring the MHZ at 45" has a overhang included so the ride surface is probably close to 42".I think I would rather have a fun boat than a scale'ish boat.I sent an e-mail to Andy to see when he was coming this way to check one out. Then I got to figure out stingers.I'm thinking the bigger gas mono stinger http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...os-stinger-str with a couple wet wells for adjustment. This is bound to be a more viable option than $2500 for a MHZ or HPR.

I think its even cheaper if Andy wont use the birch wooden railings. You could also instruct him to layup the fiberglass thinner.Originally posted by srislash View PostThanks Mac,so it should be able to go.I don't need too much tilt.I am figuring the MHZ at 45" has a overhang included so the ride surface is probably close to 42".I think I would rather have a fun boat than a scale'ish boat.I sent an e-mail to Andy to see when he was coming this way to check one out.
