oh boy, now i know what jason meant. sorry jason!Originally posted by macdon View PostI use 6mm bullets to connect motor to esc - I use the same size bullets to connect my battery to esc - thus I use the same bullet connectors for my charger as well.
I buy 6mm bullets in bulk where I buy my batteries - Leader Hobby.
so you're using bullet connectors for the battery as well, wow!!! that means i have to buy new batteries, jeezAxial Yeti XL - Traxxas Slash 4x4 (x2) - Losi Mini 8ight - Tacon Soar Buggy - Blade 120SR - Miss Geico 29 (hull + parts)

borat
took a little break and watched Borat today, hadn't seen it in ages. i was on the floor laughing, i had forgotten how funny it was.
anyway, take a closer look at this dvd, doesn't it look pirated to you? that's how it came from netflix. i called them up and told them that i thought i had an illegal version. even before i could utter another word the cs rep told me that it was perfectly normal. we joked a little and i hung up.Attached FilesAxial Yeti XL - Traxxas Slash 4x4 (x2) - Losi Mini 8ight - Tacon Soar Buggy - Blade 120SR - Miss Geico 29 (hull + parts)

Hahahaha - I see myself in you. when I started out last year, I was nervous to do any soldering. I had to call Stephen over to do all my soldering. But he really stressed how important it is in our hobby to learn this, so I nervously tried on some samples and later on got more proficient. Now, soldering is like nothing :) Thanks to stephen!Originally posted by skyman View Postcan i do 6.5mm connectors for motor to esc? and 6mm batteries? that way i don't have to remove the connectors from the motor. makes me a little nervous
As for the bullets - I just like simplicity & uniformity, so I keep everything at 6mm bullets thruout! Its easy to buy them bulk from one place and I dont want to be bothered with different sizes of bullets. You'll understand this once your fleet and your batteries will be growing.
In batteries, use male & female (for me, red or positive is always female)
In motors - I use 3 male connectors
In esc - motor connections are of course female, while the connections to battery is male and female
In charger - of course male & female.
Sometimes, you will have a system that would either use parallel or series connection - so you also have to make some connectors using the same 6mm bullets.
In a series connection, if the wires of your battery can reach each other - you wont beed to make a connector if you used male/female connectors in your batteries.
In parallel connection - you would need to have made a connector.

yes soldering is important. i used to solder back when i was younger, but my soldering gun is not very good. it's a weller i think, but one of those cheaper ones. that kind of makes me nervous.
what soldering gun do you use?
batteries explanation makes sense. i will stick to 6.5mm for motor-esc and 6mm as you said for battery-escAxial Yeti XL - Traxxas Slash 4x4 (x2) - Losi Mini 8ight - Tacon Soar Buggy - Blade 120SR - Miss Geico 29 (hull + parts)

When I started, I think I used 30watts - till later on my soldering seems to break apart. Since then, I got 100watts and they seem to hold up fine.
I just got a china made soldering iron for $10 in Ace Hardware.
