Don't cut wires...two ways I do thisOriginally posted by pugman2 View Postso i just plug a rec pack and switch in . and it overrides the other sorce ? or do i have to cut some wires
1) simply remove the esc's red wire socket from the plug and fold it back onto the wires and tape/heat shrink it in place
2) make an extension up that has the same thing done to it or has had the red wire cut off.that way you're not messing with the esc's plug
I've included a couple pics in case my words weren't clear enough

The BEC inside a ESC can only regulate so much voltage that is connected by a battery by design. When you conntect more voltage than it can handle, it's not capable anymore, so glitching, heating, etc occur. So, you disconnect the red wire to not get this voltage and supply the ESC with voltage it can handle, hence the seperate battery pack.Originally posted by cuzican View PostIf you don't mind me asking, why do you disconnect the BEC? I have been running 14 cells in my supervee without unhooking the BEC. Am I gonna ruin something or is that just a personal preference??
thanks
Hope that clarifies.
Peace~
