UL-1 powered 68 Miss Bardahl

Which of my props will work best on this UL-1, 1:10, powered boat. I don't want to hand launch.

Here is all I have...all grim props.:

38-55/2
40-52/3
40-57/3

She is not completed (cockpit and tail and graphics...etc) but I'm giving her the maiden tomorrow.

I have the 38-55 on her right now but I've never tried that prop. Do I need to go with a different one?

The above is all I have in the box that would even work with this motor. Which would you try first?

38 is way to small not sure on the 3 blades. I certainly would not judge how well it performs with those props

By the way I am contemplating a 1/16th scale checkerboard Bardahl. What did you use for the yellow? Where did you get the color code for it? I think I have a couple 45mm RH Graupner carbon props that work well,. If I do I could send you one.

is this hull the same in size as the UL-1?
if so anyone of those props will work and the 40-57/3 will work great!

I hope you have better luck in your 1/10 with a UL-1, We have burnt up a couple of them, a 36 inch boat needs some torque, Good Luck. Start with about a 42 MM prop, something like an X442 and go up from there if your temps are safe. Make short runs to start with.

Ok...thanks guys...I 'll go back to the 3 blade and hope she will get on plane. I didn't think a couple of inches would make that much difference between this and the UL-1, hence the UL-1 power...I guess I will find out tomorrow.

Jim...I'm using plain ole Rustoleum rattle can yellow. It takes a long time to dry but seems to work well and the the Rustoleum Gloss Clear dries quick to the touch and looks pretty good on top of it.

What props?

Here is a video of the sail yesterday with some cracker, UL-1 and the Miss Bardahl footage. I got a cool running 39.7 mph with a conservative 40-52/3 prop 1st day out....I should be able to shake more out of her with some tuning.

Hmmm, 36"- 27" = 9" is a bit more than a "couple of inches"....
The UL-1 motor is really not well suited for this large hull, that's probably why the hydro falls off in speed so much in the corners. The boat catches enough air to run reasonably well in a straight line, but overall performance would be better with a BJ or SV motor and a larger prop. It would also get on plane easier. Did the boat thermal in the video? If not, just two minutes of run time to LVC indicates a pretty high amp draw - what cells were you running?

If you insist on running this motor, you'll need to flatten the strut or move weight back a bit to stop the transom hopping - this causes amp spikes which are extremely hard on the ESC. Otherwise it is a beautiful boat, can't wait to see it completed.
