I am starting to put my water outlet on top of the hull. Much easier to see the water shooting UP then OUT.

I have thought about putting an airplane fuel filter in the water line.

A filter is going to be more of a problem than a solution. With a free flow system very small particles or even seeds can pass through and we will never know.
With a filter to capture them and then block we have a problem that does not need to be there.
A filter is used to protect a downstream component from particulate damage.
There is no component in a FE water cooling system that needs protecting from particles, they need a flow of water.

I do like the upwards water outlet.........sorting the K&S tube now.

2 points I will pick up on here.

1. checking the cooling system. As I have less esc's than hulls I swap them in and out a lot and get used to doing a cooling styem check, this is as crude as blowing in one end and feeling the air out the other. I also pre charge most of my hulls with a syringe full of water.

2. water outlet. Ben raises an interesting point on observation and running styles. I too look ahead of the boat and when it is close I will not see a tell tail from a transom outlet. I may consider moving 2 of mine to the side.

I have had a feather foul a water inlet and near cook a speedy, I am dang lucky it did its thermal shutoff thing before I could add it to the list of crispied speedies.
You have got to love those cheap chinese esc's and the thermal shutdown

At least once if not more often during a day of running, I take off the water line from the rudder and blow through it to make sure it's open! Put that on your checklist.

Steven, good luck with your eyesight. I have been blind in one eye since age 5, wear glasses for both near and far and am falling apart at the seams. Other than that I feel great! But I have a few years on ya too. I'm 65!

That is a great study in life. What more can one say.

I recently over heated my equipment because a heavy motor lead crossed over and collapsed a cooling line.
