Has anyone used the feiago 580L yet? If so, what did you use it in and what were the results. Im currently converting an thundercat 31 and Im waiting on connectors to come in so I can make my first run. This is my first "real" electric build so I dont have any idea what to expect.

I've run the 580L 6T in both an outboard tunnel and an oversized rigger on 4S2P. It's a suprisingly strong motor. I actually think the 7T would make a better 4S motor if the boat can handle the prop diameter.

M645 pitched up or an ABC1816 (I'm liking the ABC). It may hit 70 at the end of the straits. Remember, this is a 40", 8.5 pound boat more suited for 6-8S power. I built it to run open hydro at our club and district races. I figured I try it on 4S just to see if I could make it go well on cheap power.

It's run 8 heats now, 7 wins and 1 second. Ever against a twin 80 boat.

Can't complain about the performance of a $225 motor and ESC.

Sounds pretty impressive! I have the 580L 9T and running 6s lipo with the etti 150 esc w/o bec. OSE sent me a prop to begin testing with, it is a graupner 40X56mm. It seems to me that this prop would be to small because a friend of mine is running a 42mm prop on a Super Vee 27. I dont know a lot about prop selection, but I dont want to buy 20 props if I dont need to. If anyone has any suggestions on a prop size, please inform me.

Props are a touchy item. You can read plenty of posts of people that try to do it the other way. Starting with a prop that someone else may have used on their setup. The problem is that each boat is a bit different. All styles of hulls can run wet and cause high amp draw. Hydros and Cats can dramaticly be altered by strut adjustment. Start out with the wrong prop and strut height and you can toast an esc.

What do you guys mean when by running wet? It sounds like I need to know this so I dont burn up anything. My esc is an etti 150, the specs on the 580L is 85amps max. Do you think that if my prop is wrong, that I can burn my esc?

running wet means you got to much hull in the water "getting wet"....means you need to make some adjustments to make the boat plane up higher "lift"

like maybe kick the bottom of your rudder outwards a degree at a time to make the bow come up....bottom line is you want less boat on the water to cause less drag

85 amps is the max feigao wants you to run the motor continually at. But thats not the max amps the motor will pull. If over propped you can easily pull double that amperage.

I run a 540 13XL on 6S with a X442 prop in my converted TC31 and she runs about 45mph. You can try a 540 12XL as well for a bit more speed, just check the amps...

How would I go about checking how many amps Im drawing with different props? I already have the 580L, so I guess my best bet would be to go through every size prop till I find the right one. Do I risk anything burning up if my prop is too small?
