Do you know if they have one that reads more than 100 amps?

How would I go about checking how many amps Im drawing with different props? I already have the 580L, so I guess my best bet would be to go through every size prop till I find the right one. Do I risk anything burning up if my prop is too small?

I have personally never seen one ...you would probably have to move up to eagle tree data logger...ose has those too I think they make a 150amp version

Well the converted "Thundercat" made its maiden voyage today. It went pretty well for my first electric build. I tried props starting at 40mm-47mm. Everything stayed cool (under 100 degrees) and my best run was 38 mph on the gps. I just ordered some bigger props in hope to get more speed. The front of the hull was digging in the water some, so I adjusted the strut and that solved that. As the day was ending, I decided to run one last run, so I taped her up and took off. I guess I tried to turn to hard at full throttle and flipped over. As I paddle the retrieval boat to her, I seen she was steady sinking. When I got to her, the plastic stripps I epoxyed in the old vent holes had blown off! Eveything was flooded and my receiver fried. Im hoping that nothing else messed up as well. I dont see any damage to anything else, but I wont be sure until I get another reciever. I have some video of her and plan on posting that soon. Also some pics. I want to thank all of you for your help, I would have given up if it werent for you, THANKS!!!!

I hope you have flotation in your hull ?? I never run a boat without it after loosing a boat to the depths of a pond (which was actually recovered after 2 years)
When you get a new RX if that one is fried, coat it with dp270 to waterproof it.

I just ordered that waterproofing epoxy that OSE sells. I just tested my batteries and 1 is showing low voltage and is swollen. The other seems to be fine, it shows the correct voltage and is not swollen. How can I be sure that that battery is not damaged as well?

get a lipo cell meter - something like this, will tell you the voltage of each cell not the entire pack.

4s packs should be about 3.2 volts per cell, = 12.8v, any lower than 3v per cell and they could be damaged. I'm pretty sure the water shorted mine out causing the cell to puff.

Puffed cells could possibly be dangerous, I probably wouldn't use them in a high amp setup again.

Do you think the battery that shows correct voltage and did not puff up is still good?

likely , but hard to say, I would check voltage and then try charging it monitoring it very closely.

then try discharging it with a low load recharge and check voltages.

well, I finally figured out how to kill a 580L. I had drilled the endbells on my 6T on the big tunnel boat so that water could drain easily. That was the mistake, I flew the boat off on the last lap. What happens when a nice hot motor gets dunked in cold water after a heat race? Shattered magnet that eats the windings. Not the motors fault! I think the next motor will have removable plugs to flush out the motor when it flips but will normally be blocked off to keep water from pouring over the rotor.

Well I got my new batteries in and went run the thundercat. This thing really moves!! The only problem Im having right now is when Im at top speed, it shimmies on the water really bad. I would say Im in the mid 40's. Does anyone know why it might be doing this? I would think a boat ofg this size should handle this speed pretty good, Right?

Has anyone run a Hydra 240 on a 6L or 7L yet, what results? can it even take these amps?
