Yes sir, it's a 5" Billy Boy Bobbers balsa float. Cheap on eBay.

Use the tug pulling the balsa float with hooks on it, floating fishing line. Circle dead boat, hooks on float catch the rudder and tow it in.

what if the boat to retrieve is upside down?

very nice. going to order one. I use a proboat recoil 26 and tow a line from a fishing reel attached to my futaba 3pmx. this float will work when the boat is flipped over. been using this retrieval system to retrieve my gas rigger. needed a way to grab my electrics when they flip. thanks.

where did you find the float with hooks attached to it? I can only find it without hooks on ebay.

I bought a package of 4 hooks at Walmart. Then I bought a package of red antenna caps to put on the ends of the hooks. I bent the hooks open slightly with pliers, then screwed them into the float.
