Hey all this is my 2 bobs worth (a coined aussie phrase), everyone on here as there own opinion, language, beliefs. However we have one thing in common...
A love for FE Boats whether race or sport it is a LOVE we all share. If people dont wanna share their setups who cares you'll inevidablly figure something out anyways, isnt that half the fun? Lets just get on! Have fun and race some sick FE boats!!

P.S. I just realized my info doesn't show my location. I added my location to my profile. Sorry for any confusion. My family has roots in Southern California dating back to the 1850s and the East Coast since 1620, so I am about as American as they get. Re-read my post, I am not an elitist European. I am an uber-elitist, gun-toting, right-wing extremist, flag-waving, arrogant American (and damn proud of it).


My post was a compliment to those who attempt at communicating in a foriegn language, and a gripe about OUR woefully lacking educational system.

My opinion for what its worth is that there are too few FE racers out there to begin with, so I have no problem with sharing my set-ups with anyone. I will let them take photographs, measure them, and even tell them what motors and props I run. I will even tell them what mods I have made to the props.

Better competition makes for better racing. Better racing is just plain FUN!

Many have e-mailed me or PM'd me from boards asking about set-ups and I will respond, usually with pictures as well. Many ask for one of my riggers, but they are just not right yet, and I haven't found someone to CNC cut the kits out yet that I am happy with.

Anyway, a manufacturer should go out of his way to help their customers. An individual may or may not share, that's their prerogative.

I know many racers who have given up posting replies for set-up advice, as they have either been flamed or their advice not followed precisely. There is more to a boat than a motor or prop combination and without precise details of the boat, CG, hardware set-up, driveline set-up, giving recommendations can often be risky.

Many racers' set-ups are extremely precise with respect to run time and heat build up. Set-ups vary for an 1/8th mile to a 1/6th mile to an offshore set-up. Running any unnecessary additional time/distance can be trouble. We all build in a safety factor of a penalty lap, but beyond that...

I am only speaking from a racers persepective as I do not own any sport running hulls.

Hi All, I'm in the U.K. and have recently moved to F.E. I've run 'wheeled' rc's for years and also sclae boats so the F.E. scene has been really refreshing. I've learn't all I know from people on forums (Rummrunner, OSE etc) and have had no trouble in getting people to share their idea's.

The forums, IMHO, are there to allow people to talk/communicate to each other on various topics. If I make a post asking for help/advice on a set-up, then the people who want to share, can share. And the people who don't want to, don't have to. I don't take offence if few people reply, it just means I have to keep searching for the answer.

I've had no problems with Europeans (Fritz from Vienna is very helpful. Thanks!) and the dealings I've had with U.S. members has also been great, (Madmikepags, Thanks!!) I even had one member send me two 6S Lipo's without paying first!!! He said: make sure you're happy with them before you pay me. Wow, how often do you see that kind of trust???

And IMHO I think its polite to attempt to talk to someone in their language. Too often we 'english' speakers expect everyone to learn our language, and I think its kinda rude. When I go abroad I always try to speak in the native tongue, as I'm in their country, and a guest!

Regarding those of you that do not speak English as a first (or even second) language:

For the most part, you do far better than those Americans educated by our sadly inept government-operated schools. I am appalled by how few Americans know the difference between "your" and "you're" or "there", "their", and "they're". I especially find it amusing when they tell about airplanes that go "strait up verticle."

At least you Europeans TRY to speak English. The ignorant here (not hear) don't have the ambition to attempt to master their own language, nonetheless a foreign one.

If I remember right the Europeans have pretty strict rules for their racing classes so the racing is very tight between all the competitors. Any edge they have is the only edge they have. And they will likely keep it under wraps.

Some folks are silent, blunt, some are cheeky, but no one is out to get you.

I like to talk boats with people from all around the world. I share some and learn some. Sometimes the questions are so broad that I have no idea how to answer. This is a case where a picture is worth a thousand words. I haven't finished a cataloge yet but I'm storing photos that I've used in the past to answer questions. If a new person is starting a mono hull and asks "I have the hull and hardware in a bag, now what do I do" I just don't know how to answer that by typing in a forum. But, I can send them a photo of what the insides look like when things are in the right place. The same with general hardware parts all around the boat. It would be good to have a pictoral how-to section to refer to.
