Just a general post - why are Europeans so secretive with there set ups? or it's like pulling teeth to get questions answered - some of these guys are the bees knees when it comes to RC - you'd think they would help newbies others to get the most out of the hobby

I run Into this alot with anyone In any country. Like a clamshell, wet to wet join on a hull or mold building/plug building techniques, nobody wants to share how they do there joins so, I had to figure this out myself and I have formed my own methods that work! Most people just want to keep there Ideas to themselves, they want to be the only one or few that are doing something differant.

I have found a few people out there that will really tell you anything they know or there opinion on something but, they are hard to find...

BTW... The people/buidlers I am reffering to are from Canada, US and europe. All would not give me a straight answer to a simple question even on the phone...

I agree with Dr Jet in regard to the education problem in our country. Reading my posts is a fine exampe. Darin touched on something I have been dealing with since I entered my first chatroom years ago. As I put it... it's the inflection of attitude or lack there of that is lost in text. I have been in more fights and arguments over this than I can count. Add in the language difference and it all goes to hell. Any more I try and remember to step back and digest a post, pm, im or text before I respond. Nothing beats just sittin down face to face and just shootin the s...

sometimes I can't figure out (and I'm from Canada) what was said or how it was meant to be taken when talking to Americans/ Australians either,,,and we share a common language (more or less)

Yet somehow, we all seem to get along in the end

Doby what you say is correct. Often people do not respond because they are not sure about the meaning of what the other person is saying.
There have been many good and positive things said on this thread. We have got through it without any black eyes or extreme language.

I for one have learned these things...
1. Think about what I am typing for longer than 10 seconds.
2. Try to understand people from other countries better
3. Most people do want to help but sometimes do not know how to do it.
4. Remember that in summer people are busy boating and have less time to respond
5. If we have a problem and get no response to our question maybe we need to look at what we typed and see if we could have written it better. Steven did put a SEARCH button there for us to use if we get no response.


I noticed that everyone agreed that we are so lucky to have this forum. In our daily life we do not get along with everyone we meet and so it will be here. I personally have no one on my ignore list as no one has ever upset me that much.
I think this thread should show us that we have differences between us but we share a common goal.

This is true of all forums. I have been a member of several airbrush forums both here in the US and over in the UK for several years. Many of the senior members have stopped posting while others keep on posting and helping. The changes in generations and how they communicate has always been a touchy subject and always will be. We are all human and will say the wrong thing and take things the wrong way at times so the best thing to do is to walk away for a bit before we post. And if we realize that we were wrong admit it, apologize, and then move on.

Jay, if this is the impression you got from my post, then we need to work on our communication skills. Everyone else here got the meaning and tone of my post... or at least their responses seem to carry on the positive tone that I intended... "Blame assignment"? "Name Calling"??? I really hope you weren't referring to my post... because there is none of that in there... All I did was state the facts, and everyone else seems to have understood that... In fact... it was not ME who brought the "know-it-all" references to this thread...


This is how it starts... Someone posts something with good intentions... someone else takes it wrong and replies... then we start to get defensive...

It gets so frustrating that it just makes me NOT want to post ANYTHING... and then there you have it... Two people who may have something to share... neither willing to post anything for fear and frustration over continually being attacked for their opinions and statements.

Can we NOT just get beyond past tussles and move on?

And if it's really a concern of yours... what would make me "happy", is if everyone would just accept that we all are here for the same reason... to enjoy this hobby, and would treat each other with the respect that humans should show to other humans... This hobby can NOT grow if we keep beating each other up all the time...

In the past I have tried to make sure all threads got some kind of response. Looking back at the forum I see that we have missed answering a few threads lately. This forum has gotten so busy, it hard to read everything anymore. We need to all make an effort to get an answer or lead someone to a good source for their question.

I think it is just the time of year that everyone's personal lives are real busy. We do not have the time to sit in front of a computer and answer quetions like in the cold weather months. It does not have anything to do with nationality.
