What am i doing wrong here?

mean machine hull leopard 4082 1800kv, seaking 180 v3, m545 strut 1/4 above sponson, 5s2p 4400mah battery 8mm bullets on motor, 8mm and 5mm bullets battery connections .150 cable 3/16 shaft speedmaster hardware. 11.25 timing… i know this is not right…. its a 3.5 d wind. after this run the batteries were warm, esc was a bit hot, and the motor was blazing! ive tried some different timings with different results, mainly cause i dont time my runs and take temps (dont yell at me) , my question is, should i be at 0 degrees timing? is my prop too big? any help thanks. video http://youtu.be/2194Dsd4Aok

Carl and Ben both guided me toward the 3-5 degree timing on D wynds.Other than that it seems to run smooth.I haven't had a day to experiment as to what effect timing will do(more torque?). BTW nice spot to run there.

hmm… well to be honest, its never had a run where it has stayed cool. ive tried 3, 7, 11 degrees, and it always get pretty warm.

set the timing to 3 deg. to start with and if you have an x-442 or x-640 try those first.
remember to start small and work your way up.

also run for one (1) minute then take a temp reading.

i have x640, my x442 is currently at the bottom of the lake. i figured i was safe because i ran m445 on leo 4074 2200kv on 4s2p in this thing all last year, with less heat issues

run the timing at 3 deg then and you should be ok.

the D winds do NOT LIKE med on up timing.
                they are low timing motors.

i will certainly go back to 3, and try timing my run.

                    sounds good Dana.
just take baby steps if you will and you will be rewarded very well with a great running boat
                    and very reliable.

Yeah, but you're going up to a 5 pitch and keeping the same diameter..............thats alot of prop. The m545 has the same total pitch as an x448!! Just try not to max it all out and have a solid boat, maybe run the 3 degrees and the m445.

i agree, m545 is alot of prop for that set-up..... i never have used leo motors, but neu 1515 on my outboard pulls a m445

Ok thanks guys, I was looking for more speed but perhaps m447 would have been a better choice. For now I'll go back to my 445 and timing change back to 3 and do a 3 minute run, see how it does
