Need advice on a rescue boat

Chief, thanks, I feel more confident should I ever want to get that Blast, I guess I will have a blast ( no pun intented) rescuring my upside down boat. Your idea of towing is good, I will try that.
Dana, thanks for the reassurance: I really have a hard time lining up and as good as the Rio is, it still needs some speed to be able to turn around in a small circle.

If you tow a line with a tennis ball or gaff (I use the little duck gaff from the proboat rescure duck), then use 2 drinking straws attached to the eyehook and run the fishing line thru it-- it keeps the fishing line from getting tangled in the prop (which will ruin you day quick...).

Also note, I moved the eyehook from the side to be directly in line with the driveline, else it won't tow straight... (so don't put it where you see it in the pic below...)

No, I wish someone is with me, I am very much a lone boater. The speed is close to a stock Fastech, boat being narrower than the Fastech, it rolls the the starboard at intial power application,thus turning right . I had to trim the rudder trim to left a bit, otherwise I love the speed and it makes the boat look really nice on the water. Very stable (no wind though) and graceful.

Thanks Chief, didn't think about that, yes, the day won't be funif that happens and i am exactly the kind would do such a stupid thing.
To go back to the original topic, do you circle around the disabled boat and make few attemps until the fishing line catches the hardware of the boat? Just curious and want to be better educated. Thanks

I used a piece of tire tube to help hold motor in the stock mount,

That looks serious! You and your off set rudder! Bet she runs nicely! I did not know how to remove all that plastic contraption, I actually left the stock ESC in it, thinking I might want to go back to stock?!
BTW, your transom looks nice and clean, how is the COG? my set up I was worried it will be bow heavy, it turns out ok, runs a bit wet but the stability is good so i don't mind the trade-offs.

I use a fishing pole and tennis ball and have a blow up raft just in case,
But may try the tow and hook idea on mine Rio some how.

Now that is FE! As I have thought, your set up promotes better COG, mine runs alot wetter than yours, ultimately your speed is faster. I don't have such calm water so maybe i will leave it alone, you are much better at mod than I am, I only take baby steps. lol...
What prop are you using? I used 42mm carbon prop and never had luck with 3-bladed ones. What is the kv of your motor?

This was my first rc boat that I bought off of craigslast for $75.00 with the tx & rx,
And started my addiction to FE.
It runs much better now, With out the hop hop in the video.
Just port side trim tab down a hair and runs smooth as glass now,
Prop is a x440/3 and makes it have less torque roll,
Motor is turnigy 3656, And I think the kv is 2600kv.
I bought three motors off of hear in swap shop and the seller did not know the kv of that motor.
I got lucky.

I don't have any hop hop but it runs on the wet side, originally I ordered a 3656 from HK, ( Turnigy Motor)---higher kv because I wanted to run 2s and be able to use stock batt. mount. It was DOA, I didn't even tried, when I spinned the shaft it feels as though the motor was filled with sand! The Proboat motor is good enough for this boat, not too fast. Well, I didn't know
x440 /3 would have less roll, learned somthing. For some reason my P1 slowed down when I used the Venom aluminum 3 blade. May be it is not the same...

Do not know about venom props,
I think their just a rebranding like everything else they have.
My Sf esc took a dunk a long time ago and does not tone any more and stalls some times like in the video,
The motor will handle 5s and spins very free and smooth.
But the esc I am not sure any more,
I ones hooked 4s to it and it started to smoke a little bet.
So I just run 2s and 3s on it,
I may try 4s in it with another esc and see how it runs.

I've had great luck using a Traxxas villain. Its big and steerable twin screws which lets it turn sharp at low speeds.
Both a friend and myself, although doing it with different boats, have had the best luck using just a push bar to push dead or overturned boats back in. Really easy to do and haven't found a boat it doesn't work on.
I just came up with a easy way to mount my push bar the other day. I used high strength 3m tape to hold weaver style gun accessory mounts and a couple of scope rings to hold the bar made from 3/4 PVC.

Wow, that is brilliant, and weaver scope rings... haven't done any sighting-in for 10 years, lol...
Seriously, I love your idea, hope the Blast is big enough to do the job, I have a rather small car and the small size of the Blast appeals to me. I see what you mean by the size, the Villain can really handle chops, turns on a dime, it was my first boat. The push bar would be easier on my eyes as I don't have to "aim" the fork of the rig. Maybe with a Weaver Scope I can do better.

Lenny, I figured I just had a case of bad luck with that motor, it would not be economically wise for me to ship it back, the cost was so low. I wanted that motor for a specific reason: it has a 0.125" shaft and i was too cheap to buy another coupler. well, that's all history now. I think you would like the result of 4s although 2600kv might be a bit high in my opinion, just saying... I assume your stock flex cable held up well? Mine was very rough on the stub shaft part, it was out of round! Some poor guy at the factory filed it with a hand file so it is sort of round. It was unbelieveable when I first got the boat...
