What happens when you plug in 8s to a AquaCraft 60 amp esc.

I am surprised that this is happening so fast on the Aquacraft 60A?

Two years ago i ran my stock SV27 on 8s for 1 minute before the 45A ESC stopped. No fire or smoke, just stopped.

Guess i was lucky

This is why I want to switch to ec5 connectors . Killed more then one pack this way.

I almost did this exact thing today. I was unpacking the new Stiletto and setting it up for some fun and I didn't even look at the wiring and almost turned it on with them in series. Almost all my boats are now running 6s or 8s using packs in series...

Actually it was the on/off switch on the ESC that saved it. I had it plugged in and ready to hit the switch...

Glad there were no injuries Steve. =) Rumor has it that Listerine can remove the smell.

Easy mistake. I could see where anyone could get used to plugging batteries in series in a boat, and just go ahead and do it, forgetting they were a different cell count than normally ran. Good for you Steven for not blowing up on your son. Sometimes I expect too much out of my son and forget he's a kid. It sucks to loose a pair of expensive lipos and an esc, but it's a lesson that I'm sure is well learned by your son.

I somehow series'ed the ESCs in one of my twin cats once. I should have had a battery running each ESC, but instead had one big series connection between the batteries and ESCs. It ran, quickly hit the LVC, and I started to bring it in (with a puzzled look on my face)...then the boat started controlling itself. Luckily the throttle it was giving itsefl was light and I was able to steer it in circles until it quit. I brought it in and took the hatch off and discovered what I had done.

Luckily for me, nothing was damaged. I unplugged the wires and re-connected them correctly and it worked fine.

Any of us can make those kinds of mistakes, especially if we're distracted, excited, rushed, ect.

Don't most esc's have over 75000 rpm limit? if so.. HOW FAST WERE YOU GOING?

the motor was rated at 3300kv at 29.6 thats almost 100,00 rpm , this also is an older controller

I have wasted battery's before plugging them into themselves. You get in a hurry to get ready for the next race and "BAM".

Could have been worse Steve. I've plug them in dead short with bullets before. At least he can say it was due to his green....ness. Thank goodness nobody was hurt. It's only money right. I've seen some really experienced guys dead short 32 cell nimh packs. It's like a welder.

Sometimes I like to leave them nasty and burnt. Gives them that lived in look. Plus, there's no substitute for that stench in your car that lingers. Can almost taste just thinking about it.

I would be interested in knowing what set up you were running at the nats with your MC. Prop and strut settings. How many milliamps were you pulling in a heat and was the boat close on speed against the other hulls...
