loading a mamba monster on 6s in an offroad vehicle is a whole different game than in a boat as well bud.be careful and they are not waterproof lol

The stock motor is 1600kv in the Spartan. I wouldnt expect him to keep the stock prop, that why i said "You are gonna have to load it up with prop to make a good difference." in post #10. I was referring to running two different 1600kv motors on 6s wasnt gonna make alot of difference unless you prop it up.Originally posted by Rumdog View PostWhy would you do all those upgrades and keep a 42mm plastic prop on it?
Yes anyhow. The stock motor is around 12-1300 kv if I remember correctly, not 1600.
I run the 1520 in a 31" mono on 6s with a x648. Well into the mid sixties.
No way that Traxxas motor could come even remotely close to the power output.

Do you guys thing that the new Castle 1/5 scale esc would work? (the Mamba XL) it's $300....8s limit....and designed to push baja's with Neu 20** series motors....would this work or do i need an esc with water cooling?

With the same stock prop?Originally posted by Rumdog View PostTrust me, the castle will give much more speed than the stock motor. Kv has almost nothing to do with it. The castle 240 lv is no good on 6s.

Ok so what would you recomend for an ESC then without breaking the bank to badly?...the Castle 240 hydra is already $255 or so....i'd rather not break $300 for an ESC if possible...Originally posted by Rumdog View PostTrust me, the castle will give much more speed than the stock motor. The Castle hydra is a totally different esc from the MMM. I agree, the MMM does just fine on 6s. The hydra has been shown over and over to not work well on 6s.
The 1520 will lose much less rpm under load than the stock 540 xl size motor, and can spin WAY WAY more prop.
Still, all that, in a cheap hull? I wouldn't waste the potential.
It isnt too hard to mount up some hardware on a bare hull, You've got plenty of people to help you through it right here.
It's a 36" hull also, (The Traxxas) so you'd be able to prop up quite a bit before you had handling issues associated with prop diameter.

Yea i guess i should have been more clear on that...i don't want more motor for more speed...i want a nice speed but nice long run times so i can mess around while salmon fishing out on lake supirior. i wanted more motor so i could run larger batteries so i could have longer run timesOriginally posted by Make-a-Wake View PostOK, that makes a little more sense.................more motor to push more weight. I think a Leopard 4074 1400kv would give you a good bit more power. Were you thinking of running two of these?

And no i wanted to run 2 of these: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=9518 because i already have them for my LST XXL conversion

I have the savage flux and run it on 6s all day long too with the mmm combo. I havent had any issues with running esc's at their max recommended voltage. Just don't over-prop your setup.Originally posted by LST XXL View PostYea i am waiting untill i have the boat...i'm not going to buy anything untill i'm sure that it's going to work either
On the pushing an esc to it's max voltage...i run my LST XXL on 6s with a MMM and 6s is it's max input, it runs fine...is there something different for boat escs that i haven't read/come across yet?

So would i be better off just leaving this boat stock?..
Will i be able to run it stock with 2 5000mah 6s' in it?...that's adding another 3 pounds to a 4 pound boat lol..
Cause i want to be able to run 2x 6s 5000 mah in parallel so i can have nice long run times out on lake Superior

Just a thought here, you're not gonna pick up much speed due to the relatively same kv as the stock 540XL. You are gonna have to load it up with prop to make a good difference...........which means a good bit more diameter..................and then, some torque roll issues.
